I'd like to point out that my homophobia is not rooted in misunderstanding, fear of the unknown, prejudice or ignorance:

Rather, it is firmly based in the actions of homosexuals I know/have known personally, and that's why I distrust them innately. They've proven to be catty, adulterous, gender studiers who purposefully engage in high-risk sexual promiscuity for clout, and desire to see straight white families destroyed at all costs unironically, by their own admission.

That, in addition to public health concerns (Gay males are leaderboard toppers worldwide for STIs), dangerous sexual proclivities, debasing/grooming children for sexual gratification (CBC Drag Kids, anyone?), and calling for mutilation + irreversible pharmacological/surgical interventions for a fucking trend.

I'll give a little anecdote of my own for some contrast.

This may come across as one of those 'yea, I have a black friend so I'm not a racist' stories.

When I was about 24, I dated a girl whose father had a family, raised three kids in to their adulthood, and came out of the closet after the kids were raised. I was with her for around six years and this was back in the mid 90's when being gay wasn't "cool". 

Because of that relationship, and because of his having to keep his identity hidden, when his daughter wanted to go hang out with dad, we would go hang out with his crowd.

I've never met one person from that community who was more likely to be anymore  " proven to be catty, adulterous, gender studiers who purposefully engage in high-risk sexual promiscuity for clout, and desire to see straight white families destroyed at all costs unironically, by their own admission."  than anyone else.  That sounds crazy to me.

In my teens and 20's I hung out with what would have been called a woke crowd, if the term really had legs then. The lefties, of which I was a member at the time TBH, the punks, political activists, etc. I think my sample size was decent, but I'll agree that it was ideologically homogeneous. And that sameness was one factor that led me to ask the types of questions that forced me to divest from the spoon-fed leftism of the day.

Honestly navigating the waters of politics in between left and right has, since then, felt like trying to concoct a unifying theory of political relativity. And oh boy do the variables keep changing!

Maybe that's the difference in my experience.  I didn't feel like their lives were ideologically driven, so I didn't ask those questions.

Not everything revolves around politics. Sometimes people just want to be able to live their lives without being publicy percecuted.

Don't get me wrong, I was a bigot in the 90's. It took me a while to turn it around.
