That's my biggest problem.  I'm lazy and don't feel like taking the time to prep and cook a healthy meal when I get home from work.  Instead, I too often opt for the quick and easy vs. the prep, cook, and eat something healthy.

Yep.  that and not wanting to take the time to cook up something healthful in the morning.  Slam some Carnation Instant Breakfast and get out the door, gotta get that machine running!

Me too. The last thing that I want to be doing after spending 10 hours at work and 2 hours on the road is prepping dinner.  That's no excuse and I know that I'm just being lazy but uh.. I don't care.  :D  I like to have at least a couple of hours to relax before I have to start over.
I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

Isn't that what a wife or girlfriend is for?

My regular breakfast is a smoothie. frozen strawberries, frozen blackberries, kale, Vega protein powder, creatine, flaxseed, almond milk, and a little ice. takes about 5 minutes to put together.

Quote from: YoDoug post_id=10341 time=1619709335 user_id=58I kind of figured this thread would not get much interest. Most people are happy not thinking about or discussing nutrition because it points how poorly we eat. Kind of like seeing pictures or video of factory farming, it makes it awfully hard to get in line at a fast food drive thru with those images fresh in your mind.

I have interest but I also have work that needs to be done. I would guess the 90% of the meat I eat is grass fed or organic. On average I only eat meat once a day anyway. Nowadays there's organic fruit and veggies are in almost every store. It's a little more pricey but like everything else you get what you pay for. I not concerned about how others eat or think about nutrition and I don't spend time thinking about it. If you like fast food go for it.

If I ran a blender at 5 in the morning on my way out to work, I wouldn't have to worry about my diet, my wife would kill me...

My girlfriend eats very healthy and she does it affordably.

You can eat very well and not spend a ton of money if you try. And it's OK to enjoy the things you really enjoy....especially in moderation.

I try to keep my freezer pretty well stocked up with home made foods. Lentil soup, beans and rice, meat cooked in tomatillo
salsa, etc. I can grab a container or 2 and be eating in short order. Making it easy it the key. If you're hungry and lazy it's easy to grab a cheese burger.

I have started to be choosier about the meats and dairy I buy. The hormones and antibiotics they give those animals can't be good for you so IMO it's best to avoid them.

I eat very little processed or fast food. But on occasion even that's OK. In moderation.

It is crazy that you can go to the store and usually find pork or chicken for under a dollar a pound but have to spend 3 dollars a pound  or more for most vegetables.

My wife and I eat almost no processed foods. Everything from scratch excepting condiments. Tonight we will have potato and ramps soup. Ramps are sometimes called wild leeks and are a springtime treat that I forage. As soon as the garden starts to come in we will eat mostly veggies that we grew. No pesticides, no fertilizer.

The meat, dairy, and sugar industry has lobbied to get all the subsidies they need to keep their products cheaper than eating healthy. It's by design, for their profits.

I'll have to try that. I'll probably use leeks instead of ramps though.

LOL, Not that I should have to repeat it, but milk drinkers have been found to have much higher estrogen levels than vegan soy eaters. Soy contains Phyto-estrogen, milk is full of actual estrogen. Maybe we should call all these milk drinking guys with all that extra estrogen, "Cowgirls". Seems fitting.
