LOL.  Have you known anyone who has access to the TS API?

I think so... But I don't dig that deep into it. You can do a bucketload with C#

I've just finished a three hour webinar covering some of the new stuff in 7.15. They've added a bunch of new stuff, especially in 5 axis.

Does the boost milling look likes it's progressed?  I've been kicking around trying to convince the management to purchase the module but what I first saw of it, it didn't really look like it was ready yet.

I noticed in the Webinar that they said that they were replacing the volumill license with boost for those who were using volumill. I wonder if that's going to ruffle some feathers with customers?

It ruffled a bunch of feathers when Mastercam locked the Volumill module out back in X3???, X4???
Is anyone using volumill these days?
I've been on their mailing list forever and used to get sales offers from them all the time
Not so much any more. I wonder how they are doing??

I think Dynamic mill was a c-hook in X4 and brought to the front line with X5. I'm guessing it was X6 or X7 when Volumill got kicked to the curb.

A blast from the past looks like this happened with the release of X5

LOL..  yeap.  Our company was furious when MC dropped volumill.   Our reseller talked us in to purchasing it because Surface High Speed Area Roughing (dont remember what they called it back then) had some issues with over engaging the tool and it was impossible to prevent it from ramping in to material even when it was un-necessary.

We were testing both Volumill and Cimco's plugin and we ended up with some convincing from our reseller to purchase Volumill.

My main gripe at the time was that MC didn't have a comparable viable replacement.

I haven't talked to those guys in years.  They were fun to work with.  We did a bunch of testing on Volumill 3d roughing before they released it.  We still have a placard that they sent to us for the time we put in.

Boost milling is good. It has definitely improved a lot. I've used it plenty of times, and got good results.

I doubt it will ruffle any feathers, other than between Volumill and TopSolid. Anybody with a Volumill license just gets transitioned to the Boostmill license. It is pretty much transparent, and I have already had a couple of customers change over with no issues.

We Updated to TopSolid 7.15 yesterday. I have a little more work to do on some safety scanner setup in a robot cell today, then I can get back to testing the post/code in our new Mu-4000V 5x machine. Until now I had always used our Volumill licenses, but they are no more so I will be testing boost over the next few days.

You'll have to let me know what you think of it.

There were some things that I noticed in earlier versions (boost milling) that I didn't care for.
