QuoteJudge William Fitzpatrick warned in a November opinion that "a disturbing pattern of profound investigative missteps" could have undermined the proceedings, leaving the indictment in jeopardy.

A federal judge dismissed the indictments against former FBI Director James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James on Monday.

The judge found that the appointment of interim US Attorney Lindsey Halligan in Alexandria, Virginia, was invalid.

Trump handpicked Halligan for the role amid increasing pressure to bring criminal cases against his political enemies, including Comey and James.

This is a developing story and will be updated.

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

Case were not dismissed for merit, but for how the prosecutor was appointed.

I think James is still fucked.

She did what she was accused of and left a great paper trail to prove it. Combine that with her, 'nobody is above the law', speeches and she'll get burned.

The prosecutor (Halligan) was appointed to file charges against Trump's perceived political enemies regardless of whether there was proof or not of guilt. Previous prosecutors, who were pretty well respected, declined to prosecute, likely not because they were partisan, but because they didn't think they had enough evidence to lead to a conviction.

From my very limited time reviewing the information from the James prosecution, it seems many people don't believe the paper trail to her alleged fraud was concrete at all, so the likelihood of a guilty verdict was very much in question.

Having said that, if it's proven she's committed the fraud she's been accused of she should be treated like anybody else.

As far as Halligan being appointed inappropriately, well, that's putting it rather mildly. She was a wildly unqualified person put into place to use the power of the office to persecute the people Trump perceives as his "rivals", whether there was evidence or not. And she's done it. The reports have been she has no clue on how to present and prosecute a criminal case, which should be unsurprising because she has no experience being a prosecutor. So basically she's wasted a shit ton of time and money through her ignorance and incompetence. And it's a really shitty look for a country that wants to claim we're a society of law.

The link below is something that came up from a google search.

And good luck to her future once this admin has ended.

I think she'll be alright if she returns to doing something she knows about, which is insurance law.

I can't imagine Bondi ever getting another job in justice though. At least I hope not. If she does it means this country is continuing its swirl down the toilet.

This is assuming that she doesn't end up in some kind of ethics violation investigation in the future.

I'm sure she'll get a soft landing at Fox lies.  It'll be fine.  By the time they lie about the next election, there's sure to be some heads to roll (again), and a spot will open for her.  Or maybe Megyn Kelly needs a replacement after wasting oxygen explaining the difference between 8yo and 15yo on behalf of the child molesters.  In a sane world she would be looking for a job right now.
