Hardly. I think Frenchie is auditioning for US citizenship with his social media hard-on for all things Trump.

U.S. seizes oil tanker off the coast of Venezuela: Report

https://www.cnbc.com/2025/12/10/us-venezuela-oil-tanker-seize.html

https://archive.ph/r9kYb

"US forces have intercepted and seized a sanctioned oil tanker off the coast of Venezuela, according to people familiar with the matter, a move that marks a serious escalation of tensions between the two countries.
The White House didn't immediately respond to a request for comment. State oil company Petroleos de Venezuela SA and Venezuela's oil and information ministries didn't immediately reply to requests for comment.
The seizure may make it much harder for Venezuela to export its oil, as other shippers are now likely to be more reluctant to load its cargoes. Most Venezuelan oil goes to China, usually through intermediaries, at steep discounts owing to sanctions risk."
I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

If someone is over 30 and they aren't on some government list for telling at least a few dozen politicians and a POTUS that their anal cranial inversion syndrome is showing and it's not a good look... I SERIOUSLY question their patriotism.

Quote from: mowens on December 10, 2025, 07:32 AMShirley, nobody really thinks these strikes are about drug interdictions, do they?

I don't know this "nobody" nor do I care what he thinks.

And quit calling me Shirley.

Clearly only the brownest of brown nosers actually believe this is about drugs. And now with the seizure of "a large tanker, very large, the largest one ever seized actually" (I think that is called piracy, but that is a matter of semantics) it is obvious that this is about getting someone installed in Venezuela who give the US a deal on oil.

Considering the US's stellar record on regime changes (think Syria, Burma, Guatemala, Iran, Cuba, Honduras, Vietnam, Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc) who thinks this will actually work out in the long run?

His wide-ranging rant in PA the other day covered this.  He's all butt-hurt about Somalia and the "garbage" but he did mention they're very good at stealing boats.  I feel like this is one of those Grinch lightbulb moments.  "Hey wait a minute.  We could do that."  (of course followed by internal dialogue "and we'll do it the best ever, with the biggest boat ever, and it will make us great, which we are, the hottest, and it will be huge..."  Six pages of Truth later, and Hegseth takes it as marching orders.

Biden Admin sanctioned this tanker in 2022. I have no idea what it means to sanction a tanker, was it still working against Biden's sanctions? And then the next question would be, what do you do if you sanction a ship and then it continues non sanctioned work anyway?

Good question.

From what I've read the ship was well known for moving oil from sanctioned countries. But does the U.S. have the international right to board and seize the ship? I don't know.
