The White House is appealing court orders to restore interpretation services at press briefings.

2.8% of the US uses sign language. of that 2.8% how many are watching white house briefings vs how many read the briefings in print, vs how many don't care at all.

they are probably paying a signer for about a dozen people.

Every time i see the ASL person signing i just facepalm and think.... "Closed Captions exist" why do we need an ASL person on stage signing along.....

What cracks me up is when they facepalm, or their face obviously reacts as the realization about what they have to translate hits them.  That's probably the image that drumpf is trying to avoid - the dumbfounded shock of the person as their internal dialogue is "F### me!  Now I have to say that 'out loud' with my hands.  I'm embarrassed for my own fingers.  I wonder if it will ever wash off."

I dont know if they have text on the monitors there?   If they do the argument is dead.

I would love to get the actual numbers on deaf people that would attend a speech live and watch the ASL person to understand whats going on.... Hopefully you are really tall or they have large screens to watch it on..... which they then could have closed captions on.....

In fairness, those signers didn't have an easy time with Biden either.

To narrow it down even more, of those dozen people watching how many can only understand ASL and not the captioning? Zero.
