Ford is cancelling the Lightning. I don't know how any of us are going to power our houses now. But I guess we will figure it out. 
it wil cost us 18,000 to power our house

article says they lost 13 billion on EV's  in 2 years.

I'm shocked that nobody wants EV's. 

If the gov't wouldn't have tossed billions in incentives at auto companies there is no way they would have even built any.
They tossed $9.2 billion low interest loan at Ford to make battery plants with even more from tax incentives.
"Ford's EVs and domestically made batteries are also eligible for billions of dollars in consumer tax credits and manufacturing incentives embedded in the Inflation Reduction Act"

yeah, we've done a lot of work on that in our shop. when we first started on it, everything was top secret, and we could wait to see what the car looked like. It was so disappointing when we finally did see it.

They, meaning both auto makers and the gov pushed EV's too hard before the tech was fully ready. In the upper midwest, guys are buying their truck to go to work and on weekends haul their toys. I know a lot of people that haul a boat, ATV's, or snowmobiles, up north a couple weekends every month. If your fancy electric truck can't make that trip while pulling the toy on a single charge, no one will want it.

The saddest part is gov went full in on EV and pulled back on credits for hybrids. Ford has a hybrid option for the F150 that get way better mileage and can still pull your boat, etc.

Slightly related, saw a post about the new Cadillac Escalade IQ with 205kWh battery pack. Cost buddy $130 to charge it at a public charger. Average cost for a fill up on the gas version is $70 bucks for 24 gallons of gas - stats today for avg cost around the US, YMMV.

Oh, and those two versions of the SUV have the same EPA range, ~450 miles. Plus let's not kid ourselves about the cost of electricity going down ever, where is the upside?

Ford has a hybrid option for the F150

My uncle got one earlier this year, he loves it.

I remember I had a 2017(?) Ram 1500 that took E85 gas.
I loved it because hardly anyone was using E85 so the price was half of regular gas.
The gas mileage on a 300 mile trip up I-75 was basically no worse than regular gas making that same trip despite everyone saying the opposite.

6 speed manual transmission.
Not as fast as modern automatics but it sure is fun.
