Every day that goes by, fusion will still be 20 years in the future. But holy hell is it a grifty money maker somehow, it's the thoughts and prayers of the energy industry. I firmly believe that it only 'works' at full scale, ie: a star, in space to cool it down, and VERY far away from anything meltable.

Last week the MIT Prof who had the best practical ideas was killed (pretty sus), so we're stagnant again. I doubt we'll ever have profitable fusion power to the wall socket.

IMHO... fusion is a pipe dream at least for the forseeable future.  

There's A big push towards small scale nuclear reactors. BIG!

Think Semi-Trailer or smaller footprint. 

They've been in development for at least 10 years. Rather that's when I signed my first NDA for seeing models for some of the machined parts for them. 

Until Trump lifted the absurd testing timelines and ok'd the use of DOE facilities for testing, we were still another 15 years away at best from seeing them in the wild. We may see them in under 5 now. Geting into the testing pipeline is now measured in months, rather that years.

The fact of the matter is nuclear energy is the best solution we have for our ever growing energy demands. Period. These reactors are safe. The material is in a form that will not cause a melt down like Chernobyl or 3 Mile Island.

the problem is in how you frame the question.

why look at someone as good or bad and not just say, I like that or I don't like that. It just seems to me like it would be useful to remove the catgories of good and evil especially since in a lot of cases these days, people don't seem to have a definition of good and evil anyway.
