I'm posting this because apparently LilStew has an issue with John Thune but doesn't know how to start a thread about it.

I don't understand what his issue is, it just sounds like he's ranting about more shit he doesn't understand or even know anything about but maybe he'll clarify with a link to the talking head who's telling him this stuff, or just a post explaining what the fuck he's talking about. :)

I know, that's a hard ask I guess.  :ball:

QuoteWell, guess I can bitch about something on Repub side.
Fuckin senator John Thune.  Moral Coward, couldn't get on board with only Americans voting in American elections.

I assume he's talking about this.

Senate GOP Leader John Thune says he disagrees with Trump that Congress should 'nationalize' elections

Before calling Thune a pussy, put the shoe on the other foot and nationalize elections using Democrat rules and see how you like it.
I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

Trump Wants To 'Take Over' State Elections
It's a bad idea, just like it was a bad idea five years ago when Democrats proposed something similar.

With a different set of rules for each.

It should be left up to the States. Remember back when Republicans were for States rights?  Funny how that changes when it's something they don't like.

In the UK, the labour party - the red "side" - the "peoples party", the "party for the workers", are fukkingover everyone with the biggest stick imaginable.
But take 3-steps back - it's the government!!!!

I think that voters, at least in our Country, share most of the blame.

It's like James always says - we get the government we deserve... good and hard.

Voting now makes no difference. It is "good and hard" for all.
And will be going forwards to 2030....

I wouldn't care if a green hair wanted only US citizens to vote in our elections - but you know that won't happen

Yea! Constitution schmonstitution.

It will be interesting to see what our "strict constructionalists" in the Supreme Court have to say about that. I expect it to be an impressive example of flexibility.

That's shadow docket shit there.

They won't say anything. They'd just pass it through without any explanation.

It seems all the local constitutional scholars have gone quiet lately. :headscratch:

I'm not sure what to make of that.

Congress can certainly make laws to instruct the states how to carry out elections, but the federal government can't run them.
