I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

I'd dump Windows in a heartbeat if the software I used ran on it.

Same here.

I've been running Linux and FreeBSD for years on my home PC's.

I'm ~6 months in now with my home server/workstation running Ubuntu LTS. The only thing that has been lackluster is the support for my wireless headset, I've been trolling through the options to find the right software. A few games refuse to use the mic, so that's an ongoing adventure. Literally every other thing works better and faster than on Win10. Controller support, bluetooth devices, file transfers, Plex server.. Plus it never needs to turn off, I have rebooted outside of the initial setup/installs maybe 3 or 4 times.

I was always an avid computer guy, but it has felt stale the past few years. My love of building and tinkering has really been rekindled by using this machine. Thanks for listening to my TED talk.

Any issues with websites opening? My language apps, etc.? Mastercam ok with Linux?

Dumb questions, maybe..

Read that GUI support is over, runs as a headless service in Linux. I'm not in the know, I assume that would mean you can't use it to model parts or make CAM programs with the current version.

It's a wild time to drop Linux support in a world that is less and less happy with Windows.

I am so annoyed with Win11 right now. Some f-ing update this week and I couldn't log into my home pc without synching to microsoft account.  No skip.  Cancel just puts you in an endless loop.  So I did it, than it turns on all this sh!# where it wants to let 3rd party apps access my file system, share settings across all devices.  So much hunting down and turning permissions off.  Wasted an hour reading help links, finding inaccurate descriptions.  "Go to Settings > Privacy & security > General."  There is no General!  Oddly, there is on my work pc, close to the top under Windows permissions - I just checked - go figure.
So then I log in as my separate admin login and it lets me, no problem.  No ms acct required!  WTF!  I sure wish I'd turned it off with the power button when I'd got into the cancel loop.  Would have much rather had ms acct linked to admin rarely used login, and not been stuck with my personal login linked and synched.  No way to undo it.
Maybe one more thing to try.  It found a couple old windows phones connected to my account, and there was the option to remove them.  I did.  Might have to think about removing my home pc from my device list.  -  It'll warn me that 'find my device' will no longer be active.  Oh, golly, look, it's right there on the corner of the f-ing desk!  Plugged into the wall.  Not going anywhere.   >:(
/rant off.

I see that now.  After NX 12, GUI is Windows only, with server support for Linux.  So after 2020, no more NX fully on Linux.

It's a real bear supporting two OS's. GibbSCAM was available for PC and Apple BITD.
