I will go buy a HUGE hat and eat it, if this happens.
I really can't see the bar allowing their industry to disappear - afterall, it does the Gov's dirty work generating billions in revenue and taxes and protects the "whole system".

You have to look at it through the lens of greed. If it means more money for partners in a law firm, they will most certainly replace 50% of their junior lawyers and paralegals.

I think we have a little longer before it gets really bad. You have two factors that will slow it down. 1. The boomers, aka the greediest generation, have amassed more wealth than any other group in the history of people. They are going to start dying off and leaving it to their children and grand children. This will keep a lot of displaced workers in cars, houses, and money for some time. 2. Small business is notoriously slow to adopt new tech. A lot of small business owners out there have made enough money to be comfortable. They will continue to suck out the money for as long as they can while the business dies form not adapting to change. This will take some time.

Wipe out 50% of Lawyers?  I mean... show me the downside to that. 

So many of the problems we face as a society have been created by lawyers and the "depends on what the definition of "is" is..." crowd.

You have to look at it through the lens of greed.

Your focus is WAY too narrow son... Look at it through the lens of humans doing to each other what they always have done to each other since the dawn of time. 

 

I'm almost shocked that people are shocked when humans do human stuff. But then I'm reminded almost daily that people generally speaking have the attention span of a gnat and about the same level of understanding of things. It is almost as if murder, thievery, envy, adultery, etc... are new concepts and weren't invented until the 20th century or something.  

What's the definition of insanity? Thinking humans are "basically good" and that we won't do human things to each other when presented with or we've created the right opportunity.
