Conversely I have friends with CF that would like the anti-vaxxers to STFU so they can try and lead a semi-normal life again

Maybe you got that from Sen. Ron Johnson?

Total and utter BS.
You don't have friends...

I do, must be a conspiracy!

Quote from: YoDoug post_id=11316 time=1621440789 user_id=58This isn't directed at anyone personally, but I have started to notice a trend in my personal life. The numbers and studies show that people that are overweight, out of shape, and have other lifestyle created chronic illness like type 2 diabetes, heart disease, etc, are the ones dying from Covid. They are also the people that seem to be getting the most worked up about people not getting the vaccine. I have extended family and friends that are freaking out because they think Covid is the plague. They are all in everybody's business about getting the vaccine.

IMO, a bunch of people that let their health go to the point that a virus with 99% survival rating is now a big risk for them should STFU, get the Covid vaccine, then worry about their own health so the next 99% survivable virus isn't a risk for them.

As of May 10 there has been about 4500 reports of people dying after receiving at least one dose of the vaccine. Now, they can't conclusively say that the vaccine was a direct cause of those deaths. However, it is the same reporting metric that has been used to measure vaccines for decades. When comparing the data to all other vaccines Covid has more reports of someone dying after one dose than all other vaccines in the past few decades.

Got the second shot of Pfizer yesterday afternoon. After my reaction to the first shot I was worried I'd be miserable.

Besides a sore arm and a tiny headache around bedtime I've been fine. There was definitely that burning type feeling in my nostrils/sinuses that you get right before getting a bad cold but so far nothing to be concerned about.

No, the science has spoken. Vegans and vegetarians generally live 7+ years longer than meat and dairy consumers. Tons of science to back this up. Countless studies showing 5-10 times stronger immune system in vegans. But you seem to selectively choose which science fits your ideology. I'd guess that you dismiss most climate science as well.

I'm not an anti-vaxxer. If people are at risk then they should take the vaccine.

Doug, I have a lot of respect for what you've been able to accomplish over these years..and where you've managed to elevate yourself personally & professionally, I really do..

Some of the stuff and the way you prattle on, there are some things that you have become, well, belittling.

Science itself is a search for answers, sometimes even long held scientific "knowns" get upended with new information. Science is helpful, it does not offer all of the answers, nor does it proclaim so...

Years ago, caffeine was bad, then it was good, then it was bad again

Sugar, which is widely accepted as edible, is itself dangerous to a body in some amounts.

Saccharine,  shown to cause cancer in lab mice, long used for human consumption....mice were getting the equivalent of 250+ plus servings a day. Science though.

Science told us for centuries that the "blank man" was inferior to the white man for a myriad of reasons. Some of the worst atrocities in mankind have been committed under this "science"

So please, when you look to the science, some healthy skepticism and prudence is always  the wiseman's belief.

Except when it comes to the science you believe in, like Covid science and vaccine company science, then we should all get in line.

In fairness, there are exactly ZERO mRNA vaccines that have ever been approved by the FDA. None. That kinda makes them pretty experimental.

I said no such thing.

I have previously stated why I made the choice for myself. I have also stated numerous times, if you don't want to get it, that is your choice.

My point was science itself, can change over time.  it  many, many, many case, It's almost never settled

Skepticism is healthy, blind obedience is not.

and just to add to the discussion, I have dropped 60lbs since Feb, my A1C was 5.9 in Apr....and I am still losing....while I eat plenty of veggies, I eat plenty of lean animal protein, healthy fats as well. The best diet for me, it's a low carb diet. My body and chemistry respond VERY well to that dietary change.

How is it misleading. It's the same reporting system, that uses the same criteria to report incidents after getting a vaccine. In most of the reports they cannot say for certain that the vaccine was the cause, yet people still died. And the numbers of reports of death for Covid vaccines are more than all of the reports for all other vaccines. Again, it is still a very very low risk for people that need the vaccine. by no means am I saying people should not take the vaccine if they feel they need it.
