Really?

Figured you'd go with, cop shoots fleeing suspect in back.

Wow.
That video clip shows how quickly a situation can escalate, and how quickly an officer must react.
This is a good case of the officer's body-cam footage removing all doubt as to what exactly happened.  :_thumbup:

I would say he kept his cool pretty well, all things considered.
Motorcycle cops are completely exposed in a situation like that, so he did well to ditch the bike quickly and head for cover.

It's also a good object lesson for car thieves.
Shoot at a cop, suffer the consequences.

Hell yes it was, especially given the stress of the situation.

There's a frame or two you can see the stock of the officer's AR-15 on the rear right of his bike.  If the perp, who had already shot at the cop, got ahold of that he would have become even more of a threat.  I think this cop did everything 100% right.

Wow...that's a serious compliment coming from you, given your usual anti-cop default position.    :harhar:
I agree with you 100%.
Dude was either trying to take the bike to continue fleeing, or the weapon, but I think he quickly decided that was as bad of an idea as shooting at the cop in the first place.

It turned out to be the last bad decision he ever made, but the result is 100% on him.

Maybe it was Luck . But from what I saw his line of fire was clear. I kept thinkin chit whats behind him. Cars were not rolling past on the opposite side. would have been a chit storm if an innocent got hit.

Yup.
Conditions at that exact moment were good for him to safely return fire without undue risk to public safety, so he did.
Sometimes you do need a little bit of luck on your side even when you do everything right.

In this case the officer did do everything right, and even the intangibles like traffic were also on his side.
If he hesitated for even a second it could have ended differently if either a car passed through his line of fire, or if the shooter made it back to his vehicle and was able to take off again.
