2032 Olympics

As stated by others here, 2032 is a long way off, and if the Olympics continue to be used as a political platform, they may not even exist 10 years from now, or if they still do exist, they will be less relevant than ever.

As for whether it is good or bad, I guess it depends on how the city / country in question handles it.

If done right, it could be an economic boost for the country.

If done poorly (as history indicates), the host country sees a short-term economic gain, but a long-term loss on the original investment.

I guess the key is in re-purposing the facilities that are built for long-term public benefit after the games are concluded.
It sounds like a great idea on paper, but practically speaking, not so easy.

Maybe Brisbane will come up with a better plan than any other city has had thus far, but I would be skeptical as well if my tax money were being poured into hosting an Olympic event.

Seems like NBC is paying a few $$$ to broadcast the games. You think they might be turning a profit for the broadcast rights?
And that's just the US. Count all of the other international media outlets. Guaranteed none of the are going into debt by covering them. The money would come from the sponsors. As it is now a whole lot of people are making a shitload of money & it isn't the athletes. Commercialize it & pay they guy who is good at badminton or canoeing or whatever passes for sport.
