psoriatic arthritis is an auto immune disease which puts you at a higher risk already

I know it is, but I also very very rarely get sick of any kind whatsoever, Well maybe a Hangover

I'm taking the injection - Cosentyx which also says to limit your exposure to people with possible viruses/sickness as it possibly Lowers your Immune system.

I have been on the fence about the vaccine for awhile now. I really wanted to make my decision on getting it or not through my own weighing the pros and cons. I was NOT going to make my decision based on what some government official wants me to do.  I know plenty of people that got the covid and most their symptoms were pretty mild. But I found out that my neighbor got it a couple months back. This guy is 61 (my age), a retired firefighter, very good shape, lean and very active. Absolutely no underlying conditions, but he ended up in the hospital on a ventilator. I just talked to him the other day and he says he is still about 75% of what he was before covid.

I consider myself healthy, but I could stand to lose some weight. So anyway I got the first Pfizer jab today.

Will it prevent me from getting covid? Probably not
Will my symptoms be mild if I do? I hope so, and that's why I decided to get it.

Lee hound,  Having friends and family go thru it gives us different perspective. I've heard stories of Covid cases but never had someone I know that was serious.

My daughter told me if a nurse at her hospital that got Covid 3 weeks ago. She was vaccinated. My daughter tells me that her friend has had a helluva time for 3 weeks. She ran the Covid ward at hospital for a year and a half and never got it.  Now she does. Great health and never misses work prior.

I personally believe you improved your odds on f dying from it.

How do you guys feel about the military mandating the vaccine?   I'm sure that there are people in the military that have the same concerns that anyone else does.  They won't have a choice and can't get out of it unless they are willing to go awol.

Quote from: YoDoug post_id=13859 time=1628005003 user_id=58IMO, this whole Covid risk and vax or no vax should really be starting a greater discussion about what is considered healthy in today's society. 2 out 3 Americans are pre-diabetic or diabetic. Over 40% are overweight/obese. Nearly 70% of people over 60 take more than one prescription with many taking 4 or more. The number one prescribed type of medication is statins. What if the the next "Covid" manages to be come more severe but remain very contagious? It's only a matter of time.

We Americans "generally speaking" live lives of excess. We eat too much. We drink too much. And of course, we exercise FAR too little.

The VAST majority of Americans actually want a pill/jab for everything, because we're so damn lazy and it takes a modicum of effort to do things right. So, until that changes, stuff is going to "get" people that probably wouldn't have otherwise if people managed their lives better. That's the harsh reality. I'm not with you on the vegan thing Doug. Just not. But I also don't think that people should eat a ton of meat. As with everything, balance and moderation is key. Those two things are why the average american is in ROUGH physical and mental shape.

The military has always given people shots/vaccines for a variety of things. When you join, you kinda sign up for that. Nobody is really changing the rules for the military. Private sector though... they ARE changing the rules. The flu vaccine was always a personal choice. A certain percentage of people have always died when they contracted the flu every year. But now, all companies if they so choose are being allowed to dictate jabs to their employees when they didn't sign up for that... that's a whole other thing. FEW companies/organizations made vaccinations a condition of employment.

Never forget "...15 days to flatten the curve."

Somebody must be on Mercury's calendar and didn't tell us or something because my calendar says we're on about day 493...

In all of this over the last year and a half has anybody asked the question; was shutting down the whole planet really better than washing your filthy grimy ass hands and taking reasonable precautions? NO! And the reason that question doesn't get asked is because the majority has doubled down on the BS and they'd be forced to admit 1) viruses gonna do virus stuff, 2) we're puny humans that don't have NEARLY the control over our lives we think we do, and 3) we're puny humans and don't have nearly the control over the planet that we think we do. Nobody wants to admit the truth. It's like the whole "climate change BS... ya know, volcanoes and that big ball of fire in the sky get a vote on our climate... try changing that. Look, just because we got lucky and we were able to eradicate Small Pox doesn't mean we're going to be able to eradicate COVID-19 and all the mutations it's going to go through. We can't even cure the common cold. Should we try? Of course. We should always be trying to make stuff better. However, when it comes to taking stuff into our bodies on the fly... we should get a say in the matter unless we previously consent to it.

I travel a lot. I get to see a wide range of human behavior in airports, in A LOT of different places and still... I lose count of the number of people that go to the bathroom in the airport and fail to wash their hands after they've done their business, then go on to touch keyosks, number pads for purchases, etc... but I'm the bad guy because I'm refusing to take the jab and refuse to wear a mask except when in an airplane or at a customer that requires/requests it? Yet the guy that drops a deuce and spreads God knows what all over God knows where gets a pass for his DEPLORABLE hygenic practices? Seriously?
