Well known Trump haters, they ran several hit pieces against Trump for 4+ years that weren't true, out of context quotes, etc...

I think that people choose to believe different 'scientists'.  This is another one of those "if 70% of scientists say one thing and 30% say another, who are you going to believe" questions.

The one thing that there is no doubt about in my mind.  This virus has brought out the worst of confirmation bias in everyone.

edit: to add - I'm also surprised that this has become a left/right issue. I can't help but wonder if Trump had been re-elected, if we would see this campaign against the vaccine on the right or would the roles be reversed?

Likely the resistance would be much greater globally simply because OrangeManBad, however the election was carefully rigged so there was never any chance of that.

Not only that, the propaganda is everywhere. I heard a commercial over the weekend, I can't remember if it was on TV, Twitch, YouTube or what, but it was very carefully worded. It basically was someone saying, in a nutshell...("I know a lot of people are on the fence about the jab and have their own concerns about safety and you have every right to be concerned....but please talk to a doctor so they can persuade you to get the jab.")

It's fucked up, every advertisement about the chinavirus or the vaccine is CC'd so even if you mute it you're forced to read it.

What they're not telling you is the real "hospitalization statistics. Out of a sample size of 50,000 people at the V.A., half of those "admitted" to the hospital are asymptomatic.
