We recently purchased a swiss lathe and the rods that go into the bar feeder need a point to guide them thru the spindle.
So far I've been grinding them at the pedestal grinder but that does not seem like the best way to do this.
I'm thinking there must be some tool that resembles a pencil sharpener I can use with a hand drill to do this.
Anyone familiar with something like this?

We just moved the grinder closer to the machine, Best advice I can give is the rods have to be wiped down anyhow so might as well just grind and wipe. It will definetly clog your collets if you don't.

We would run 12,12 foot bars twice per shift and about every 2 days (3 Shifts) we would have to pull and clean all the collets.
You may be able to set that up in your tool Life. We ran Tsugamis making 5.56 and 7.62 gun bolts 3 shifts 7 days a week.

Just part of the process.
