Funny About Powell... on his way up he was all about being conservative... on the surface. Once he made it, he turned. This was one of the things I did not like about him. He was a conservative when it suited his goals. He was the very definition of RINO. That said, his service to the nation was exemplary. His statements about Iraq to shrub were spot on, but shrub didn't heed the warnings.

Quote from: YoDoug post_id=17379 time=1634658229 user_id=58Wow, Trump didn't hold back on his feelings about Powell. I fully agree with Trump. Powell was a full blown RINO. However not good timing for Trump to make that statement.

As much as I hate seeing a venial house plant in the oval office, this is exactly why Trump didn't get re-elected...and why he won the highest office in the world, the first time he tried.
 what an asshole

are there any conservative websites covering this? PJ media and national review seem to have amnesia. Meanwhile the leftoids are re framing it as much worse than it is, as he really attacking them.

He did I think its Myeloma a Blood cancer.

At 84 and he has been fighting it for Years and Years...Yep Covid.

Just leave the guy alone and let him die with The Respect he Deserved.

Don't prioritize his death.

Celebrate his Life. "RIP SIR"

Upon further review, Trump's statement
Quote...who made big mistakes on Iraq...
has been found to be factually incorrect.

The mistakes made in Iraq (named and unnamed) lay squarely on the shoulders of our "Intelligence" Agencies. Gen. Powell famously told Bush (paraphrasing) "... if you break it, you're going to have to rebuild it...", or words to that effect. Powell's sage admonishment went completely unheeded until long after the counter-insurgency had begun and he supported Barry Hussein.

Did he(Powell) make some mistakes? Sure. They all did. ALL the Generals and Admirals did. However, the bureaucracy was satisfied and the boxes were checked so everyone got their promotions and nobody had to answer for the massive failures. They can sit back and blame "the system" and nobody has to answer for a single thing.
