Do you let contractors work in your house when you're not home?

Get a couple Blink cameras off Amazon and set them up in inconspicuous places where you may be worried about. They can send alerts to your phone and record.

And on the plus side you can also use them to make good money on Pornhub with ST!

If the estimated cost is similar it shouldn't matter.
Do you know if the HOA is filing an insurance claim for those damages?
If that is the case, you may need to get approval from the insurance company to use a different contractor, but it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Yes, this is an insurance claim.

The guy upstairs had his washing machine malfunction and over flow.  It filled his condo with about 1" of water.  It leaked down and took out the ceiling in the kitchen, dining room, bathroom, and part of the living room. It wiped the flooring and most of the walls in those areas as well.  It also trashed the Condo beneath mine.

Usually, the HOA just pays for the repair themselves as long as the cost is less than their insurance deductible.  There was so much damage that they had to file an insurance claim. When I say "this time"; this is the second time this has happened in a 3 year period.  As you can imagine, I haven't been in a great mood lately.

If they can't get this done before the end of the year (I've been waiting since June) I'm going to try to talk to them about other options.
I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

tough one
I have done this, had a flood and took over 2 months to complete. sounds like you have bases covered, camera's, valuables in safe etc. I was lucky on computer just laptops so they got locked in safe each day.
if they are insured and bonded legit contractor unlikely they will do any thing shady.
came home one day to dust filled house, they were supposed to plastic off rooms not involved. nice sheet rock dust coating on all our dishes couches etc. they offered to clean but i just wanted them out asap.
floods suck. make sure you communicate exactly what you want!

Tell your HOA to install these or similar. They will automatically shut water off if they detect water.

😯 That's a pita, ther3 was a fire upstairs a few years ago, where I lived at the time, the firemen had to spray a bunch of water upstairs to put it out, however the fire was a few floors up and there wasn't a lot of damage..

Seems to me habitable living arrangements SHOULD be part of the insurance claim. That's a lot of motel 6 invoices from June.

Make sure to get some mold spores growing and properly tested. Then sue the pants off the HOA for pain and suffering

While Schneider recently declared that she's now on "a quest" to earn $1 million, she revealed late last month that she's hoping to beat the record of another previous Jeopardy! champ.

Speaking to Jeopardy! Clue Crew member Jimmy McGuire, California-based Schneider said: "I'd like to beat James Holzhauer, I think. He seems very confident, I guess I'll say. And so it would sort of feel good, I think, in a way."

You Mean He is "Cocky"???
