We had a kind of weird line up.

They had two different kinds of lasagna, sauteed mushrooms, smoked turkey, cesar salad, some kind of meat balls and sausages in marinara sauce, and some other sides that I can't remember.

It was an interesting TG feast.

My turkey dinner was actually a 20 oz. prime rib with all the trimmings.

Me and the Mrs. decided to go out for Thanksgiving dinner this year, and we were pleasantly surprised when we found out the restaurant we picked was serving a full menu along with their traditional turkey dinners.

She chose the prime rib as well, so it was an all-beef Thanksgiving for us this year!

My wife and I were invited to one of her friends house for T-day. Walter cooked a 20 lb. brined turkey on the Traeger and Linda cooked a smaller bird in the oven just for the smell. Mashed potatoes, green beans, gravy...you know, the usual suspects, with three kinds of pie for dessert. When it was time to leave Linda asked us to take home the leftover turkey. Leftovers all weekend  :_thumbup:

She had her 2nd hip replacemtn done on 10/11....everything was going great, she was walking without her cane, no more pain...then on the 17th on November, she started feeling very ill, becasue of the symptoms she was tested for Covid on the 18th...she was negative...as we got into the weekend she kept spiraling down, the pain in the hip was back with a vengence and she was getting weaker by the day......her surgeon squeezed her in on Monday the 22nd, after talking with her over the weekend and after examining her, he scheduled her for surgery on the 23rd....

She had an infection in to the joing that was gaining strength quickly, he was glad he didn't wait for the long weekend to be over...after an in-depth surgery to clean everything out, she is on th emend again...

She has a pick-line IV in her right bicep area....she will be on IV antibiotics for the next 6 weeks....her doc's were ready to send her home on Saturday but getting her home healthcare setup was impossible...they are hoping to have that in place later today and that they can finally send her home.

It's been hectic 10 or so days.

Hopes for her speedy recovery.

I have had bi-lateral hip replacements for about ten years now and have thankfully gotten no infections of note. It's a constant risk. It's not just artificial hips, any joint replacement comes with the risk of an infection attaching itself and multiplying in a place in the body that has an impeded blood flow. I've heard of people getting pneumonia and then having to get the implant irrigated or even, god forbid removed to allow the body to rid itself of the infection.

Oh man...
Sorry to hear that, JP.

Those infections can be nasty buggers.
Definitely an empty feeling spending a holiday without that special person by your side, especially when you have been married for decades!

But I'm glad her doc was able to address it quickly and get her back on the mend.
Praying for a full recovery.
It sounds like it may take a while, but hopefully the worst of it has already passed.

Sorry to hear JP. Hopefully everything is on the mend now. Give her our love.

Ate the usual minus any carb food. Which sucked.

sorry to hear that and hope she heals quickly. we had an employee go through that on his second hip replacement.
First one went great, he had the other hip done and felt good to begin with and then down hill. he is all good now.
