I have a Dell Precision 5820 I9 that IT got for me and it's a piece of shit. It seems like every week is a new and different adventure. I'm looking for suggestions for a replacement computer. Thanks in advance for any advise.

What is your budget for a machine?
I pinned a similar topic above this one that I made prior.

My boss said that after looking it appeared that I need a $25k priced computer. I told him that was way overkill for what I needed. Most of our parts would fit into a 3" cube but I do get the spectrometer parts and they are much larger. Right now I'm looking at Titan's x299 vulcan. I haven't gone through it all but right now it's showing $6472.25. I haven't searched for quality issues yet but the customer list looks impressive. Even Apple inc. is on the list.

Thanks, I'll look at that.

Look at the boxx machines, you can get a computer that will pwn everything for less than the 6K

I've been running Boxx machines at home and at work for about 10 years
Between home and work I've purchased 15 Boxx machines and have never had a failure of any kind
The Apex 3 line is liquid cooled , overclocked and fully warrantied

This is my current home machine. its about 2 years old now
Boxx Apexx S3
i9-9900K @ 5.00 GHz
Quadro RTX4000
Windows 10 Pro / 96GB Ram
Samsung 500 GB

I bought it as a stripped refurb for $2K and upgraded the ram and video card myself

I just bought a new  work machine in June

i9-11900K 8 cores overclocked to 5.3 Ghz
Quadro RTX4000
Windows 10 Pro / 32GB Ram
Samsung 500 GB

I paid $4200 for this machine and it is hands down the best computer I have ever run

Many people will say this is a rip off.
You can buy the components build it yourself and save 30/40%
but you won't have a warranty
I'm paid to program, not build computers...
At home I do not have time to program and build computers
At work our IT guy was not happy after I bough a couple of them
but he has come around and likes them now.
When I retire one he immediately formats them and gives them to the estimators and planners

I have heard very good things about https://www.xicomputer.com/solutions/MasterCAM/">Xi Computers for Mastercam
you can customize them any way you want and they are cheaper than Boxx
I could not get my IT guy on board when I bought my new machine last June though.
IT guy said we were going to stick with Boxx machines and he has veto power on computer purchases

I think the bigger question is "good cam software for computer use"

Right now I have X-Class, Digital Storm, Titan, Boxx, and Xi corp up. I was picking out components for the Titan X299 VULCAN but I had to go back to work.

My pocket nc has small workloads so I don't have any issues there.

On the Boxx operating system there is a Windows 10 64-bit (4 core+) that adds $84. It sounds like a cheap upgrade. Have you (or anyone) used this operating system?

Which warranty do you use?
