He was telling provable lies on the witness stand

Too bad they only got him on 5 of the 6 counts... I would have loved to have seen a clean sweep.

I was on a jury and we did the same thing. Our reason for doing that was we felt like the Prosecution didn't quite make their case on a certain element of the case so we took the least serious charge and voted Not Guilty for that one charge (there were over 40 charges IIRC). We knew he was going away for the rest of his natural born life (as he should have) so there was no danger in that verdict harming the overall outcome yet we were able to kind of slap the prosecutor's wrist for his mistakes.

In this particular case, the basic elements were he lied about 3 separate things, then lied to investigators about those 3 separate things which was the reason for the 6 charges; there's the lie itself, then the repetition of the lie to an investigator 3x.

After reading through the transcript, I get the feeling there was some degree of disagreement regarding the testimony of the 2nd investigator. Therefore, the jury elected to slap the prosecution's wrist for getting sloppy. Or, I could be completely wrong and the jury just felt sorry for Jussie, or something completely different. Juries are interesting organisms.

Sometimes after a case the Prosecution sticks around to ask the jurors questions and vise verse. Jurors are under no compulsion to participate. It's completely voluntary.

They SHOULD add investigation costs.

Yeah. I can't seem to find the reference but I believe I read that a Police Captain on the record saying it was in the 10,000's of man-hours.

The thing that scares me about this is the failure of the Dem leadership and liberal media to acknowledge this incident as what it was. Even more to acknowledge how their rhetoric is creating fundamentalists that are willing to break the law to further their agenda. They are creating creating fundamentalists just like radical Islam and this will lead to violent actions by the most radicalized. They love to paint the picture of right wing white nationalists as being the threat of terrorism but in truth it will only be a matter of time before a radicalized liberal drives a car through a crowd.

This is how the left plays though; there is hoax after hoax, after hoax, after hoax perpetrated by the left "to prove there is systemic racism". The fact of the matter is if there were not these instances of their fake racism, the number of incidents would be extremely low. Matter of fact, the FBI had to recently change the definition of a "hate crime" so they could get those rookie numbers up to a respectable level in order to prove "systemic racism".

Nobody is naive enough to believe racism doesn't exist. It's always existed EVERYWHERE. It will always exist... EVERYWHERE.

If the USA was such a horrible place for people other than whites, why are not-white people LITERALLY dying to come here? Why would they strap themselves to inner tubes, float their vehicles for ocean adventures, cross large open spaces of dry deserts in the heat of the summer risking life and limb to get here if it was indeed as bad as the left says it is? Easy. This is the best country on the planet opportunity-wise to live out your dream. Does everyone realize their dream? No. There is no guarantee, only the guarantee of the opportunity to do it.

Leftism is a mental disorder. It's long past time we start recognizing that fact.

Race relations have never been better in our country. Perfect? Never will be. But better now? Of course. We've made huge strides since the Jim Crow days.

Whites are now being the targets of racism, also.

We're a melting pot of different races, ethic groups with their varying cultures. Considering how diverse we are, I say we're doing all right overall.

(good post, James)
