I just switched to windows 11, what are al y'all using these days?

Still testing windows 11 on once PC here at home. So far, I don't care for it much.  The g/f doesn't mind it but she doesn't use the PC the same ways that I do.

The start menu and it's lack of customization is my biggest complaint so far.

I use FreeBSD and Arch Linux at home as well.  Never considered running Mastercam inside of Linux. I assume it would have to be run inside of vbox or something?

CamInstuctor did a video where he ran Mastercam on Win11.
He had no issues, but I'm not even close to ready to upgrade my work station.

My old workstation and my Surface laptop are not Win11 compatible so I don't have
a machine to try Win11 on.... it will be a while before I experience the joys of upgrading
my OS

I'm using windows 11 at home, I'm not really worried about issues, it is very stable.

I heard it was more invasive than WIn10, is it not? Having to create a M$ account just to finish the installation?

I have it running at home and didn't have to create an account. This is the pro version however. I don't know about the Home version.

I do know that some things wont work without an account.  Like the widgets.  I don't see those as required functionality so it's not a big deal.

I wish they would just let go of the fact that a microsoft account is useless and very few people actually want to create one.

I've had a hotmail account since the 90's. I don't want it linked to my operating system.

I guess if it's that big of a deal to some people they can just create endless dummy accounts so they don't follow you around.

I agree. The required MS linked account is worthless and invasive.

After I finish the project I'm on in a few weeks/month, I'll probably update it. The computer will be a year old a due for a wipe and fresh installs.

If we could port the MC toolpaths over to freecad, Linux would be viable as a hard metal install.
Getting super nerdy there is a way for a virtual windows install (inside linux) to directly talk to the pci video channel. It's was in the past proven to be faster than a hard metal install if windows. Weird, right?

I don't particularly want one, but I do want to use Office 365 and it can't be used without an account.
