Quote from: Incogneeto on February 10, 2022, 02:55 PMThat is only if you are an ex wife.

Doesn't count for anyone else.

Years ago a case here in my county, a man run over another guy and then backed up over him. He survived and sued and the case went all the way to The US Supreme Court.

I don't remember the decision.

Truckers, 4, Trudeau 0

QuoteFour Canadian provinces have agreed to modify or abolish their COVID-19 restrictions in the face of ongoing protests led largely by the nation's truckers.

That's not bad for a movement that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau dismissed as a "small fringe minority" when it started late last month.

Canada's vaccine mandate for all truckers entering the country went into effect Jan. 15 and became the catalyst for the truckers to form the Freedom Convoy, even though the vast majority of truck drivers in Canada had already gotten the jab.

QuoteI would suggest any driver who was driving with due diligence and had no intent to do harm wouldn't need additional protection if somebody jumped in front of them and they were not at fault.

It's probably just a coincidence those bills were all proposed at about the same time.

Nothing to see here. :)

You do realize that we live in the Sue Me United States right?

QuoteWhile no exact data is available, the U.S. Department of Justice estimated that some 16,397 tort cases were tried nationally, based on a sample of state courts across the country. It is important to understand how significant this actually is, since only 4% of personal injury cases actually go to trial. The majority settle out of court. As such, the actual personal injury claims in this country, if the estimation is correct, would be 409,925, which is a staggering number.

The U.S. Department of Justice also highlighted the nature of personal injury cases, which provided real clarity over the commonality of different incidents. They found that:

52% was a result of motor vehicle accidents.
15% was in relation to medical malpractice.
5% was as a result of product liability.

Quote from: BrianP. on February 10, 2022, 11:26 AMAs far as I know running somebody over with a car on purpose is illegal.

I thought they were passing the law to help the mentally disturbed "victim" who drove over those Christmas parade people in WisconSIN.  After all he had to be the "victim" and we should make laws to protect other "Victims" from those terrible people blocking a road parading around.    :wallbash:

Now the Aussies are protesting

QuoteA huge crowd is building in Canberra as the anti-mandate Convoy To Canberra protest gains momentum in the nation's capital.

Last night traffic was brought to a standstill as cars, caravans, trucks and buses flooded into the city from all states.

The crowd today met at Commonwealth Park before starting the march to Parliament House where a range of speakers will address the crowd.

I thought torture was against the law

QuoteAuthorities in New Zealand have been playing Barry Manilow's greatest hits in an attempt to dislodge protesters camped outside the parliament building.

Songs by the US singer are being played on a 15-minute loop, along with the Spanish dance tune, Macarena.

The demonstrators, who are angry at Covid-19 vaccine mandates, responded by playing songs such as Twisted Sister's We're Not Gonna Take It.

The protests began on Tuesday when a convoy of vehicles drove to parliament.

Inspired by large rallies against vaccine mandates in Canada, hundreds of protesters arrived in the capital, Wellington, to rally against Covid restrictions.

They adopted the name "Convoy for Freedom" and blocked streets in the city.
