Remington settles

Tragic what happened but I just don't understand how this could be Remington's fault or should pay in any form.

Simple they caved....

I see people saying they didn't want to set a precedent by losing the case....but they set a precedent by settling...

I'm gonna sue McDonald's becasue they made me fat

Tough situation with the families involved. Money cannot bring back their loved ones.

I do agree with you guys, though. Like JP's "McDonalds made me fat" analogy. Sets a troubling precedent. Troubling precedents are being set these days at accelerated speeds.

IIR, the gun Baldwin was using was an authentic 1800s Colt. It's be pretty hard to hold a manufacturer liable for a product over 100 years old.

A little deeper look..

QuoteWhen the settlement was announced in the lawsuit brought by nine Sandy Hook families against Remington, some blamed "Remington" for deciding to settle the suit. To be clear, the Remington named in the suit no longer really exists. The former Remington Outdoor declared bankruptcy and was liquidated. The suit was settled by the insurers representing what remains of the defunct entity. The two current Remingtons — the ammunition company and the separate firearm maker — had no part in the Sandy Hook lawsuit or the decision to settle it.]

Here is LaLa land they are trying to make it possible to sure gun manufacturers for crimes committed with their products.
They are trying to use the same legal scheme prolife advocates used in Texas to restrict abortion clinics

the upper classes do not get prosecuted
and those that do die under mysterious circumstances before they can cop a plea
