Yes I loved the one that said we would never see measurable rain again in California to have it had several years in a row.

I agree that, Climate policy is very much like a religion. In the bible you have one set of words that almost everyone agrees on, but there are several thousand denominations explaining different meanings to the same words.

Science is similar to that. I trust the science but the scientists are an awful lot, like preachers each telling us what the science means in their view. And there seems to be some clout in being provocative while doing so. the frustrating thing is, as always, once it is politicized the usual suspects get involved to hype it up.

I remember a few years ago, a winter storm hit the south and it was brought up that there was snow in all 50 states. that made people in my area anyway, say, "what happened to global warming?" that night Bill Maher came on TV and said Global warming isn't over!  This is weather!!! not Climate!!  There's difference!!
which is right, of course. but if you have a particularly hot spell in summer, what do the national news organizations do? bring out an expert to talk about Global warming. why is it that cold spells in winter are just weather, but warm spells in summer are global warming.

Was it last summer or the summer before, it got up to something like 115 deg F. in Paris. CBS news was talking about the devastating effects of global warming. My mother-in-law was telling me about it. It was concerning to her, even though we live in the midwest. I pulled up the weather app on my phone and showed her the forecast for Paris. the next day it was supposed to be a high of 72deg. Curious that the news story didn't mention that, because that big of a swing is news worthy in and of itself.

My favorite is the blaming of climate change for the lack of rain in California, Nevada and Arizona.

Well it's a fucking Desert.

Not meant to ever support the population it is supporting. What did Israel do to over come this very problem? They are using Desalination to give them the fresh water they need. The side effect seems to be what the worlds oceans needs since the ice caps are melting and decreasing the amount of salt in the ocean seems like we need to be using more Desalination to help offset those devastating effects. Win-Win

Linky about what they do

There's no point in all the "green" energy in the world when China does whatever it wants to with their waste.  I do believe we degrade the ecosystem to a point, but some aren't gonna abide by the rules either way.  Electric cars aren't doing a damn bit of good when you have super ships blowing diesel in 10's of gallons per mile.  I really don't think scientist's can predict future climates.

Well I predict that whatever scientist's predict or achieve in the future there will be some guy on a street corner swearing that it is all bull$hit.

Edit:

The modeling of complex systems like global climate, or even a global pandemic, are in their infancy. Anybody remember the initial predictions for the 'Rona?

Yet we are supposed to scrap our entire way of life base on the worst case models predicting 4°C of average global temp increase by 2100?

To put that in perspective, Phoenix experiences and average of 158 days per year where temps hit at least 90°F. In their worst case models, that number goes up to 199 days.

We'll live.

when Israel pulled it's ambassador from Ukraine, that was a pretty good indication that the intelligence surrounding Russia's impending invasion was real, and not propaganda.

Obama and Kerry have both purchased ocean front property in Martha's vineyard, which is 2 feet above sea level. as long as prices continue to rise there, it's going to be hard to take their predictions seriously.

If you thought Vesuvius was gonna blow, would you pay 12 million for a house on the side of the volcano?
