Going to work this morning on a hilly country road a woman driving too fast hit me at the crest of the hill. She was over the centerline. Took the entire front left wheel off and I went into a ditch. I think because the wheel came off kept me from flipping when I went into ditch.  Feel fortunate.  Bad time's to look for new truck.

My wife got hit this morning too.
She was turning left into her office driveway at about 5AM
Its a narrow two lane dairy road with no lights for miles.
She signaled left, slowed to a near stop and started the turn
An idiot going 60+ clipped the left side of her recently paid off Volve XC60
She is OK, but it looks like the left front wheel took most of the impact
and I'm afraid the drive train is damaged.
The idiot who hit never even slowed down. A witness said it was and older model
SUV. He was going so fast, my wife never even saw him

It happened to me once. I was riding my motorcycle. luckily I was just far enough into the turn that the guys fender hit my rear shock, otherwise it would have cost me my left leg. I can still replay that moment back in my mind like a film clip.

My guess is that people have been telling you to go to the doctor for years.

We have really good insurance.
They have already picked up the SUV and taken it to a body shop.
Within an hour the body shop called and said it has structural damage
and needs to go to a body shop that specializes in Volvos.
It's 2016 with 80K on the odometer. Kelly C/B is $15-18K.
I'm thinking (hoping) they total it.
The left front wheel took all the shock.
After a hit like that a vehicle is never the same.
That is one of the drawbacks to front wheel drive vehicles
It doesn't take too much of a hit to really mess them up.
