Ya'll need different insurance companies.  My wife and I have totaled two vehicles (not at fault) and our rates have stayed the same....

23 gallon tank?

The 5.7 is a great engine. My Durango had 323,000 when I handed over to my ex's son and he killed it within 60 days.
stay on the maintenance. only issue I had with the 4X was the front wheel problems. check them out online.
as long as you stay off the gas it did pretty good. and when you need it the power is there.
only real problem I had was getting tires, pretty sure it was 15" rims standard on the Durango and I had the Fat Tires.

Apparently the original body shop was overreacting.
Mrs gode's Volvo is not totaled.
They sent my wife's XC-60 to a Volvo specialist and it will be done in a couple of weeks.
We rented Mrs gcode a Honda CR-V ( their small SUV)
It's got a 1.5L 4 cylinder putting out 140hp.
It's a real dog but I am very impressed with it.
I filled it up on Monday when we picked it up.
Yesterday it was down to half a tank so I filled it up again.
7 gallons for a week of driving @ 33 mpg.
That's 50 Biden Bucks for a week of driving vs 90 in Mrs gcodes usual ride

mayday

I'm happy to say I haven't had to buy gas for a month, we don't drive much, wify work is about a 10 mile round trip 3 days a week, the Nissan Altima gets 35 mpg. My F150 will get up to 24 if I stay off the boost. Company cargo van for any work travel.

I'd been better off just to order a new one

I've never owned a new vehicle.

The last used car I bought was in 1983. After buying my first new car I never looked back.

Instead of buying new cars I buy old houses and fix them up. I'll probably never own a new car even though I can afford one.

For me the luxury of never having a breakdown or having to do maintenance (I've always prepaid my maintenance) made the purchases worth the cost.

My wife has been driving a small Honda SUV while her Volvo is in the bodyshop
It's got a 140hp 1.5l 4 cylinder in it.
I had to learn a new way of driving as it is very slow when accelerating
Getting on the freeway and changing lanes takes a very different approach when you have no power
Once it gets up to speed, it will buzz along at 80 mph with no problems
It averages 33mpg and has done as good as 39.5 mgp on a mostly freeway trip
Even though is is dog slow, I'm very impressed with it. Honda builds good vehicles

My wife and I bought a new car way back in '84 not long after we got married.
It was the first and last new one for us.
We had alot of trouble with the car (it was a Dodge), and I think that turned me off.

I have bought everything from slightly used to really 'tired iron' since then.

neurosis

I always buy new commuter vehicles because I have to rely on them to get me to work every day.

I've always owned a truck and usually buy those at least slightly used.

I would imagine that I've only got about one more good new car purchase left in my life.  :D  After that I'll either be pushing daisies or retired and won't need to travel as much.

I bought a used malibu with 264,000 miles on it for $500 I'm on my Third year.

I drive 2.1 miles to work, 2 miles two walmart, and 2 miles to IGA.

4 quarts of oil, 3 gallons of coolant and a fair guess of $500 in gas.

Suckers. ;D

And for fun I ride My Triumph.

Insurance $70 a month for both and Registration for both $158 a year.
