Quote from: neurosis on May 12, 2022, 10:19 AMBari Weiss did a podcast on abortion a while back. It was long before the opinion was leaked.

The podcast was called - Honestly with Bari Weiss "Why You're Wrong—and Right—About Abortion".  It's a pretty interesting discussion for both pro life and pro choice people.

I would post a youtube link but I couldn't find one.

I never knew who Bair Weiss was until she Resigned from the NY Times and her resignation letter went viral. She's become one of my favorite podcasters.

Check out the movie 'Unplanned'.
It gives an inside look into Planned Parenthood from the perspective of a woman who worked in an abortion clinic.  She states that abortion is absolutely a for-profit business, and those clinics with the highest numbers receive the best benefits.

Really eye-opening for anyone who cares about the truth.

There's a large enough to be significant number of people here in the US that do not value life. Some are up front an honest about it. Most I believe however are not. Back to the "Pro-Choice" stance. They don't want to admit out loud they are cool with murdering an innocent child or, they are not cool with murdering an innocent child but are afraid to say that for fear of sticking out.

It can.be uncomfortable to take a position especially one that sends an innocent child to be dismembered and sucked out of his/her home for 9 months  through a vacuum.... WHILE STILL ALIVE! Thank can be uncomfortable. Sometimes life in uncomfortable. The only people that should be dismembered and sucked through a vacuum while still alive are politicians, murderers, rapists, pedophiles, and terrorists.

The difference is in how you define "a life".

A microscopic clump of cells is not a baby.  If it doesn't have a central nervous system capable of consciousness, it's not a person, and is incapable of experiencing suffering, and as such its destruction has no moral cost.

You know how we berate the gun grabbers for their ignorance, like about the "shoulder thing that goes up" and the "30 round magazine clip in half a second"?  Some of the recent antiabortion laws are so extreme they've made it a felony to treat an ectopic pregnancy.  I bet most of those who voted for it don't even know what that is, or how often it happens.  About 2% of pregnancies are ectopic, and if untreated are more than 50% fatal.  If followed nationwide, those laws would kill about 36,000 women every year.  Actual, conscious, living and breathing women.  If you care about saving lives you'll oppose those laws.

The extremes on both sides are fuckin nuts.  It's almost like they are trying to out crazy each other. Making the day after pill illegal is idiotic and so is allowing abortion up to the point of the head cresting.

Some of the laws are so extreme that they would make an IUD illegal.
I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

Yet other scientists define "life" on Mars as a microscopic cell. So...which is it?

So if you wash your hands with antibacterial soap, does that make you a murderer?

Why would you think I wash my hands?  :headscratch:

So if the destruction of something that has a nervous system capable of consciousness and is capable of experiencing suffering has a moral cost, does that mean you are on team vegan now?

Thats a good point.  My dad used to tell me, doctors wash their hands after they pee. Mechanics, or in our case, machinists, wash their hands before.  Some of us don't wash our hands at all.   Incog?  :D

Again with the outliers. Let's solve the 90+% before we talk about the outliers.

Mmmmmmmmmmmm broccoli. I like to throw it on the Blackstone with some garlic, onions and Cajun seasoning, steam it for a few minutes, then remove the cover and let it finish a nice crispy char on it. Brussel sprouts too! Add some carrots, edamame, brown rice, quinoa and tahini and you have yourself an awesome dinner. Or asparagus on the Blackstone! Yum!
