Quote from: YoDoug on May 13, 2022, 06:20 AMMmmmmmmmmmmm broccoli. I like to throw it on the Blackstone with some garlic, onions and Cajun seasoning, steam it for a few minutes, then remove the cover and let it finish a nice crispy char on it. Brussel sprouts too! Add some carrots, edamame, brown rice, quinoa and tahini and you have yourself an awesome dinner. Or asparagus on the Blackstone! Yum!

I heard the 'My Body My Choice' crowd do that with unborn babies.

BTW it's sacrilege to use a Blackstone and not place red meat on it.

I just saw an article about how the Satanists keep showing up to Pro-abortion protests and the "My Body My Choice" crowd is saying the Satanists are not helping the cause. IMO, pot calling the kettle.........

Those guys inject themselves in to politics to be ironic.  Unlike the "I hate fags" claim to be christian church, the "church of satan" or what ever the hell they call themselves, get involved in ridiculous political arguments on purpose.
I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

Thats a good point.  My dad used to tell me, doctors wash their hands after they pee. Mechanics, or in our case, machinists, wash their hands before.  Some of us don't wash our hands at all.   Incog?  :D

Who hasn't eaten a sammich with coolant dripping from their hands?

Quote from: Matthew Hajicek on May 13, 2022, 01:58 AMThe difference is in how you define "a life".

A microscopic clump of cells is not a baby.  If it doesn't have a central nervous system capable of consciousness, it's not a person, and is incapable of experiencing suffering, and as such its destruction has no moral cost.

You know how we berate the gun grabbers for their ignorance, like about the "shoulder thing that goes up" and the "30 round magazine clip in half a second"?  Some of the recent antiabortion laws are so extreme they've made it a felony to treat an ectopic pregnancy.  I bet most of those who voted for it don't even know what that is, or how often it happens.  About 2% of pregnancies are ectopic, and if untreated are more than 50% fatal.  If followed nationwide, those laws would kill about 36,000 women every year.  Actual, conscious, living and breathing women.  If you care about saving lives you'll oppose those laws.

could you give me an example of a state that has passed a law, that prevents doctors from saving the life of a woman with ectopic pregnancy?

He cannot and ever situation where that has been needed it has happened. No different than when a baby is breech and they ask the parents who's life do we save? The difference is the way you want to spin it to suit your narrative and purpose. Our youngest was too big for my wife to delivery and was going to be an emergency C-Section. They broke my wife's water and our daughters heartbeat got low very fast. Doctor's question to me and my wife what do you want to do? Save our daughters life and they ask you understand as with any surgery something can go wrong and we can loose your wife and or the baby. We both said do what you can to save them both and we will handle each situation if they come as they come. 5 grueling and heart wrenching minutes later we had our beautiful daughter and my wife was just fine. She never left my sight and I gave her first bath like our other two daughters. My wife was being sewed backup and taken to the room and I brought our daughter back to the room to meet her mom. I stayed with them both until they were discharged from the hospital like I had for the other two. 3 Wonderful and amazing young women who are making and impact on all of those around them. All of those missing people who were aborted what kind of impact would they have made on our world? Don't listen to the agenda driven people wanting to control the population. Stop for one minute and think if just one person who is important to you was not here what would your life be without them. If you agree Pro Choice is the correct answer then you agree no one is important to you and that life means nothing either. That life is just a clump of cells also.

Quote from: RobertELee on May 13, 2022, 05:36 AMYet other scientists define "life" on Mars as a microscopic cell. So...which is it?

I never said it wasn't "life", I said it's not a baby, and not a person.  I pulled off a skin tag the other day; that was destroying life, and killing more living cells than many abortions do.  And you know what?  Every one of those cells had the potential to become a complete human being, if nurtured the right way.  Potential is not reality.

Quote from: YoDoug on May 13, 2022, 05:47 AMSo if the destruction of something that has a nervous system capable of consciousness and is capable of experiencing suffering has a moral cost, does that mean you are on team vegan now?

I am consciously a hypocrite on that one.  I like my meat, and so does my wife.

I am watching the progress of "cultured" or "vat grown" meat eagerly, so when it becomes affordable I'll be able to have meat without the moral issues.  Last I saw there's a company in California doing cultured salmon for sushi; I wish that were available here.

It's the outliers that are writing the legislation, and so they're the ones that need talking about.

Not passed yet, but they're working on it:

We have idiots that don't know how guns work writing gun laws, and idiots that don't know how women's bodies work writing laws about women's bodies.

^^ This.  The authoritarians in both red and blue have created these issues to divide and conquer.  "You HAVE to vote for me so I can save you from THEM!"  They could actually solve the problems, but they won't.  They need the bogeymen to keep the populace scared and controllable.

If you believe that, you haven't understood what I said.  But let's explore that a bit, shall we?

If my parents had married someone else, if my dad died in one of his motorcycle racing crashes, or if my mom had died from her childhood illness, I wouldn't be here.  If their timing were a month different, I wouldn't be here, someone else would be.  No one would ever have known me, no one would miss me.  Do you mourn the untold quintillions of possible people that never came into existence?  Is it murder to not have absolutely as many children as possible?  If not, then we agree that it's acceptable to choose how many people come into existence, when, where, and which ones.  A zygote is not a person until it's capable of conscious thought, so terminating before that isn't killing a person, it's choosing not to create one.

Bills get amended ALL the time. Just because the initial bill is written poorly doesn't mean it won't be amended and corrected. Again with the outliers. SMH

Do you feel the same way about the idiotic gun bans being pushed by the Democrats?  Just let them go, don't worry about them, they'll get amended?
