I think that I may have come up with a new retirement plan.

QuoteWASHINGTON (TND) — A Seattle couple has lived aboard cruise ships for the past year after determining it's cheaper than a mortgage — and they have no plans to return to living on land.

Angelyn and Richard Burk — both in their 50s — have always dreamed of retiring to a life of travel, according to 7 News in Australia.

The couple had been going on a cruise around the world at least once, sometimes twice each year. But it was in early 2021 that Angelyn, an accountant, crunched the numbers and found something unexpected — the pair could retire now, and liveaboard cruise ships for as little as $43/day — cheaper than their current living expenses.

Couldn't pay me enough to be trapped on a floating mall. 😛

Actually, if you cruise enough, you get the equivalent of Frequent Flyer miles and you can upgrade to get experiences if that is what you want.

My idea of retirement is a cabin in the woods with no neighbors for a mile or more, not 5000 to 7000 revolving neighbors. I honestly would rather keep working than live on a cruise ship.

I don't know. Went on a cruise ship many moons ago, in the Caribbean. One night there was a nice little nasty storm. Nothing catastrophic. Probably a fairly common occurrence for a seasoned crew. But I'm not a seasoned seagoer. Fark that! No thanks. That ship was tossing something fierce.

Nope! My fishing boat is the closest thing I'll ever get to a floating petri dish.

I've been on one cruise and I can honestly say that living on one permanently sounds like a living hell.

What they failed to mention is that they are swingers and only stay on swinger cruises  :popo:  :ba:
