It just landed in my email box too

Maybe my PC1 install was hanging up on the update date issue they mentioned in the email
After it sat a while, it started working again??
Doesn't matter PC1 is uninstalled RTM will be installed soon

I'm just hoping I'll actually get to install this version...

Bossman never got around to doing 2022...we can't if he don't...and he's in his homestrecth of retirement...he knows it's out...

So we'll see...I had to install a Beta while he was out on vacation so I get get everything updated already, like I do before we actaully do upgrade...

SO I'm ready, I can be migrated, back up and running in the time it takes to install it

Hopefully Sandvik sees the same product that I see, and that is a product that IMO is not ready for release.
I can't recall ever saying this about a Mastercam release before. But this time the changes they have made are full of bugs, or plain just don't work.
The Machine Group Setup in particular... you know the backbone of every damn file we create? In concept it's great. In actuality it's a complete clusterfuck.

Fortunately, I don't use Mastercam much, but I can't say I found the stock setup menu very pleasant to use

Agreed.  Just got a bit of time to play with it.  If starting from scratch it's fine.  If you are opening a previous version file and wish to continue stock models and shit are all over the place.  For some reason it defaults to translating the defined stock from the origin regardless if you say use stock setup.

I've said it about a couple. :D

I skipped over a couple of the X releases all together because I felt like there were too many regressions in them.  I can't remember which ones they were, but X8 comes to mind.

I haven't tried the new version yet. I've been afraid to after reading some of the feedback.

Updated to Mastercam 2023 this morning. When I go into our PDM Vault I can not see any files other than the folder structure. Yes, I selected all file types in the lower right hand corner.
This issue seems to only occur in Mastercam 2023 and also only in the PDM vault. I can see any and all files on my local hard drive, and our other network drives.
Is there a setting or check box that I am missing somewhere? While I am not an admin of the PDM vault, I do have full access to read and write files, move, delete etc. This was not an issue in Mastercam 2022.

I posted this on the official forum. Updating to the new version doesn't do any good if you can't even access your files in the pdm vault. I may end up skipping this version also. Probably have to wait until SP3 before I can even open my files up. :hairpull:

I did a 5X vane file last week.
I was a X9 file that I opened on MC2023 to rework
At first it thought I was going to have to start over in MC2022 because my
stock, stock models and machine sim were a mess.
Once I got it figured out I was very happy with MC2023
Stock models crunched quickly and did not go dirty unless I changed a defining operation.
I am impressed and will continue using MC2023

But it's not fine. Creating a new Machine Group freezes Mastercam on me every time. UNLESS I use the dropdown in the Machine tab.
The tiny ass window for materials reverts can be dragged larger, but it reverts back to default when you create a new group or a new file. That "feature" has pissed me off for years.

On to the materials... it doesn't save or populate the material that you used in the previous group, of course it reverts back to default. And the material list has no rhyme or reason as to the order that it's in. I have created dozens of materials. If they were ABC order that would be..ok, but you can't ever type in 3 to have it jump to 304 Stainless or anything like that. In 2022 and previous you could do this.
Now, it's a chore to find where a certain material is on that list. AND I don't see where we can edit that list.

Being a job shop and writing programs for a dozen details per day all of this unnecessary jumping thru hoops wears on ya.

I'm thinking this is an issue with your PDM Vault.
Maybe you have to tell the vault to recognize MC2023 files

I hope you are right. I will look into that and see what I can figure out.

For a dinosaur like me, I experienced the first version of MC for Windows. V5.0 (way back in the nineties..)

Believe me, that initial version sucked... LOL

Quote from: JParis on May 31, 2022, 06:21 AMEven sometimes during the Beta cycle, things are caught that can't be addressed until a later point...it really depends on how critical it is...over the years, we have seen a couple of very late "show stoppers"....they don't happen often but every once in a while
I caught a show stopper once on the RC. :O

I can't recall which version it was but it was somwhere between X and X9.

And the available Educational Resources sucked even worse. There was ONE book. A book by Su-Chen Jonathon Lin and F. C. Tony Shiue.

Te errors form one book nearly always translated to the next one. There were V5 menus in the V7 Manual. 2 full versions after.

Things are MUCH better today.
