They've totally neutered the PD's in Washington State.  People just flee traffic stops because LEO aren't allowed to chase them.

Property crime has gotten out of control. Shoplifting is becoming an organized crime.  lol.

I guess this is what 'progressives' call "progress".

No good EVER comes from not letting people suffer for their life choices. There's always going to be an element of luck in what one gets caught for, but still, eventually you're number IS gonna come up if you stay in the game long enough.

Quit pointing the gun at your foot and you won't shoot off your toe??

What exactly do you mean by that?  I understand that you're trying to imply that I'm shooting myself in the foot, but I don't see it.

What's the phrase; "When seconds count, the cops are only minutes away?"  Well, if the cops do deign to show up, they're under no obligation to help anyone.  They don't solve crimes, they don't protect kids getting murdered, what good are they?  As the article pointed out, no police budgets were cut, but many were increased.  This increase in funding resulted in fewer case clearances.  What are we paying them for?

How long did the Democrats wait before using the tragedy to scream for more gun bans?  A few hours?

I believe Beto crashed a press conference the same day it happened

They don't solve ALL crimes or protect ALL people, but they do get it right more often than not.
I was on jury duty for a case where a single mom was raped and robbed by a guy who broke into her home in the early morning hours.

Our town PD did the investigation and soon arrested a suspect.
They did a very thorough investigation that allowed the prosecution to make a case using fingerprints and DNA evidence that proved he did it beyond a reasonable doubt.

I know cop-bashing is your thing, but it is disingenuous to imply ALL cops are incompetent or crooked.
Yes, some are, but the majority IMO do their job to the best of their ability.

Well, no.  They do not get it right even half the time.

"In the case of murders and violent crime, clearance rates have dipped to just 50 percent.
...
Clearances in assault and rape cases have dropped to 47 percent and 30 percent, respectively. Nonviolent property crimes like burglary (which involves illegally entering a property), theft (which involves taking property from another person), and motor vehicle theft are getting solved at a microscopic 14 percent, 15 percent, and 12 percent, respectively."

And that's "clearance rates", which only means that they arrested someone.  Doesn't mean they got the right one, or that charges will stick.

Manslaughter is the only one they're above 50%.

The victim in my jury case got the justice she deserved.
You ask 'what good are they?"
I would wager this woman has a drastically different viewpoint than yours.

Crimes are not always easy to solve, and police can't be everywhere all the time, so maybe your expectations are too high.

I don't see you volunteering to go out on the street and do their job any better than they can either, so your opinion is noted.

What I meant is..

The police can arrest but if the Prosecutor refuses to bring charges, The police are left looking stoopid and Dumbfounded.

I realize your animosity to the police.

Maybe they just get tired of arresting the same person over and over.

Myself, I would walk in their shoes for a bit.

I am not addressing your personal views, Only what I see and hear.

The media has a view, and portrays a view that has proven to be less than honest.

And yes,it goes both ways.
