So is Multisurface5axis broken for everything but ball endmills?

Standard Bull mills, flat and custom geometry with huge bottom radius to try and trick the algorithm all fail in that they gouge the surface. Beautiful step overs and motion where the trailing/back half of tool tip gouges.
Do i need to pull my head out or is it broken? Haven't used this one in years.....

You will have much better luck and vastly better results in you do that in the new ModuleWorks
5x toolpaths. That multisurface5X toolpath is 20 years old and probably hasn't been updated in years

There are a half dozen of these on the Mastercam YouTube page
This one will probably get you a good substitute for old school mulitaxis

CNC Software is constantly changing, moving rearranging the drop downs so a lite user is getting a little lost on AAAALLL the changes. I was going to ask about the UNIFIED thing. never used it yet.

The best way to figure out Unified is to import pre unified files containing ModuleWorks 5X
To date Unified has batted 100% for me when importing old pre Unified 5X programs

I've been programming natural gas compression impellers for our big Okuma since 2013 starting with X8 or X9
I haven't done one in a couple of releases because I've got them all done and there have been no new ones coming in.
Early last month I got a new one, a sister of a part I did in X18.
I opened the old X18 file in x23, imported the new model and went to work.
The difference be between X18 and X23 is night and day. Massive improvements in toolpaths, tool tilting options , leadin/out choices, crunch time etc etc.  I was really impressed. CNC Software has been working hard on the 5X module

So i'm doing a concaved radius. A flat surface blending into a radius which blends back into a flat surface. Old multi surf gouges the radius, module works completely skips over to the next flat. Hey Mastercam; all i care about is the radius!!!! :-X

I used to work with a guy who would slam his mouse on the desk when he was having trouble.
When he was having a bad day, it would be BAM,   BAM   BAM  BAM
and eventually
BAM....followed by "uh  Tom have you got a spare mouse I can borrow ???

I had a co-worker who would get really angry and slam his fists on the desk and what not, it didn't happen often, but someone reported him once.

I worked with this guy for about a year and he killed 3 or 4 mice in that time

That guy gets the $5.00 WalMart mouse.

Everyone else... they get 3D Connexion space mice. :D

I'd be happy to take a quick peek at it for you, if you want.  You can shoot it to me @ [email protected].

I'm glad everyone's liking the Unified toolpath.  It was something that I wanted to make for many years.
