All jokes aside, smart move. My son is a barrister and he nags us about updating our wills every now and then. I'm thinking it is because he wants to check in on his investment LOL

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

That's actually not as unusual situation as you might think. The answer is yes. At least in the People's Republik of Kommieforniastan. It's best to make certain in your locality.

Quote from: neurosis on June 16, 2022, 11:25 AMThe only thing I could see that may be complicated due to potential greedy family members is the 401k and bank savings.

Those are things you can spell out clearly in your will.
You can say you want X percent to go to Person A, Y percent to Person B, and so on, or you can say you want your 401k and bank savings to be divided equally among Persons A,B,C... or however many you designate by name.

Once you put it in writing it's a done deal, whether your family members like it or not.

Whether you TELL them the details beforehand is up to you.

I am the executor for my Dad's Estate and get 50% of it when the time comes. It was clearly spelled out in his will. What is upsetting is the real estate vultures who see this get registered with the Tax collectors office trying to by my dad house while is living there. I get 3-4 phone calls or mail a week offering cash to buy his house. The home is worth 5-10 times what they are offering and it is like they think someone is ignorant to what it's value is. They keep calling my dad and my brother tells them it was sold for $5 dollars to remove the house from their call list. They call me they get the remove me from your call list and never call me again your company is being reported to the FCC for harassment and elderly abuse. I get the no sir we would never do that. Then why are you offering such a low offer then? Why not market value? Crickets and hang up. What is scary is the people they able to do this with. Any company engaged in this kind of activity should be put out of business.
