RealClear Investigations

A long article about the Tenderloin district in San Fransisco.
A graphic example of where liberal thinking and policies will take us if they are not stopped.
Remarkably, the DA who allowed this hellhole to fester was recalled in the recent elections.
Let's ho[e it was a life sentence to unemployment

QuoteThe epicenter of the political earthquakes rattling San Francisco's progressive establishment is a 30-square-block neighborhood in the center of downtown known as the Tenderloin. Adjacent to some of the city's most famous attractions, including the high-end shopping district Union Square, the old money redoubt of Nob Hill, historic Chinatown, and the city's gold-capped City Hall, it is home to a giant, open-air drug bazaar. Tents fill the sidewalks. Addicts sit on curbs and lean against walls, nodding off to their fentanyl and heroin fixes, or wander around in meth-induced psychotic states. Drug dealers stake out their turf and sell in broad daylight, while the immigrant families in the five-story, pre-war apartment buildings shepherd their kids to school, trying to maintain as normal an existence as they can.

"If you happen to be walking through the Tenderloin and you feel unsafe, imagine what it feels like to live there," said Joel Engardio, head of Stop Crime SF, a civilian public safety group. "The Tenderloin has one of the largest percentages of children in the city. It's untenable, inexcusable to ask them to confront this hellscape."

"The Tenderloin is out of control," said Tom Ostly, a former San Francisco prosecutor who used to work there and lives nearby. "It has never been worse than it is now."

So, they wanted this liberal lifestyle, and when it came to fruition, they recalled the very person that let it happen? They gotta be running out of people to blame.

This started with Prop 47 in 2014 and it's been downhill ever since
The campaign for Prop 47 was very dishonest.
It was all about legalizing pot and the rest was never mentioned.
It passed and the people are getting what they voted for.. good and hard

We all want progress, but if you're on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; in that case, the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive.

I visited a sister in law back in the early 80's and it was bad then.
My hotel was a couple of blocks from the Tenderloin and she flat told me.. DO NOT GO THERE!!!
She lived in a pretty good neighborhood.
Her biggest issue was parking tickets.. about $2k/year , one of the costs of living in San Francisco
Now days you probably can't afford to keep windows in your car as smash and grab robberies are endemic.
Only very wealth people can afford a garage

That's kind of like the North side of Flint,Michigan. There are parts of cities all over this country where it's unsafe, but San Fran took it to a different level it seems.
At least in Flint all you'll get is stabbed.

Wowza. Where I live, we don't lock our doors or even take the keys out of our cars at night.

I left the car unlocked nothing in it. figured they could see there was nothing in it and even look.

not bust out the windows.

They searched the car and ripped out the center console cause they couldn't figure out that it just opens.

I had a can of body spray in the console that they broke open.

I'm looking for a meth head that smells like "Eternity for Men". 8)

Yeah ....  I had a car hit when I lived in Anaheim
An 86' Ford T Bird. I knew the neighborhood was bad and made a point to leave nothing in the car.

First, they broke out the back seat opera window, but couldn't reach the door lock so they smashed the passenger side window to get in the car.
Then they destroyed the dash, trying to get the radio/cassette player out.
They  destroyed that too, and failed to get it out of the dash.

They destroyed both the front and back speakers trying to remove them and finished their night's work
by ripping a post out of the battery trying to steal that.

When it was all said and done, the car had over $2K worth of damage and all they got was the Dollar Store flashlight
I kept in the glove box. The insurance company totaled the car and gave me low Blue Book.

I was pretty sure I knew who did it, a totally gone sketcher who slept in the bushes at the back of the complex.
His family lived in the complex, but wouldn't let him in the house anymore because he had stolen everything they owned.
Eventually, he tore up  a gangsters car and received a death sentence which was delivered in person the next day.
