I think there was only one universally deeply and truly despised person; the one who's name shall not be spoken. Helping that shitbird actually brings the crazy down on the person helping. Even that piece of shit micro could get help from just about anyone if he needed it.

Wow-who is this person? I've heard reference to him before but wonder about the particulars....PM me if you really *can't* utter his name.

There used to be this guy that was all over the PM forums that was bashing MasterCam (and others if I recall) and singing the praises of TS....wonder if it's the same fellow? I think he eventually got banned, and reappeared several times under different handles...very persistent. I don't know what motivated him....

Yes, that is probably the same person.  He was giving TS a bunch of free publicity for a long time until he started getting on Bill's nerves.  I don't know how Bill dealt with it and I never bothered asking. 

This guy was so out there that he would call people's places of work and harass them or try to get them fired. He called my work one time but shop owner at the time and the secretary wouldn't have any of his b/s.  I told him that if he wanted to talk to me he was welcome to meet me in person. He never took me up on it and never called back. 

He had a blog that he would routinely talk crap about quite a few members of EMC. 

He's the one guy that has a ban on site rule on the forum.  :lol:

Oh wow....I had a feeling it might be that fellow. I didn't know there was such animosity directed towards individual people-that's too bad. I wasn't aware anybody knew where he was from, either....just "the internet."

Hmm....but was this guy an actual MC user, or was this just some sort of internet fixation? Did he have some bad MC experience that turned him on it or he just flew off the handle?

I can get it that CAM s/w can make you want to tear out your hair sometimes (actually, the whole machining gig sometimes! LOL), but calling people's bosses? Really?

It started long before that. A lot of these guys used to hang out on usenet back in the early 2000's. alt.machines.cnc  JB was a regular poster back in those days. There were some pretty hilarious threads. Usenet was basically unmoderated so you can imagine that there were some colorful conversations. :D   

He was a Mastercam user at least for a while.

He was from the San Diego area.
Don't know where he is now.
Haven't heard from, or about him in years..... and that's a good thing.

Yeah, I was thinking about that after I posted-I had almost forgotten about Usenet! I remember spending time on alt.cad.cadkey, comp.cad.solidworks, and alt.machines.cnc (I *think I've remembered those names correctly). Wow, that was long ago! I recall that they were all pretty useful for a while, and then just got gunked up with spam and lots of arguing! Didn't Google buy (?) all of the Usenet archives?

If I remember correctly, Practical Machinist got going and lots of us migrated over there 'cause it was more civil. Kinda have to laugh about this now when I see what that has become, too! I sometimes think that the internet brings out the worst in people (though this forum seems to have avoided this fate so far-nice to see this!).

An older engineer friend of mine (now retired) once said that "in 100 years CAD will actually be really cool"....I believe at the time he had been "encouraged" by a customer to buy a seat of ProE (about $20K at the time IIRC), and struggled for quite a bit as an ex-Vellum user (on a Mac, no less). I think what really burnt his biscuits was when ~ 6 months after he bought it, they dropped the price of his seat to about $8K, as Solidworks was starting to gain traction. He was *not* a happy camper about this!

I don't remember him blaming his tools, but he was sure frustrated going from a 2D drafting tool on a Mac to a 3D parametric modeler on a PC!
