There is surveillance video from inside the school showing police with at least one riot shield, armed with ARs, stacked up in the hall 58 minutes before they finally went in...

The accepted story is they didn't go in because they didn't have a key to the door
It turns out, they never tried the door... and when they finally went in the door was no locked

The more info that comes to light, the more this smells fishy. It's beginning to sound like a few higher-ups were paid to slow the response time.


This is why I believe it's all for the anti-gun crowd:

They act like the AR-15 has 3 barrels and fires 10,000 rounds per minute.
It's a fucking semi-auto, and only 1 person against a bunch of police with hand guns.

I have a hard time wrapping my head around that. If that is true, the gunman was paid as well. otherwise how would higher ups no who to pay. and the gunman ended up dead.  that's hollywood movie stuff right there.

More plausible, is a point I make often. that is there a certain character traits that have both good and bad characteristics. It takes a certain amount of bravado and recklessness to run into a building with an active shooter. guys who are willing to do that are often cocky, and quite frankly, dicks when they pull you over. Then there are guys who are super nice guys, that are easy going and patient and willing to just "see how things turn out."

We are in a phase in this country where we are weeding out the former and hiring the latter. There is a call to demilitarize the police. to get rid of the jerks. We want Andy Griffith back. He doesn't even carry a gun.  then something like this happens and you wish one of those guys would have been Dirty Harry, but there was none to be found.

I realize that i am speaking in generalities and that there are humble heroes out there who would both, run into that building and also be kind and folksy during a traffic stop. But people with those kinds traits also have options as far as career paths, that look more attractive than $40,000 a year.

Another reason is that in this cop hating lawyer infested society we've got, a cop can
do everything right and still have his life destroyed by opportunistic politicians and predatory lawyers.

Officer husband of slain Uvalde teacher was detained, had gun taken away after trying to save wife

Texas Department of Public Safety Director Col. Steven McCraw... said Mireles called Ruiz and told him that "she had been shot and was dying."

"And what happened to him, is he tried to move forward into the hallway," McCraw said. "He was detained and they took his gun away from him and escorted him off the scene."

McCraw didn't say who specifically detained Ruiz.

If my wife lay bleeding to death on the other side of a door just down a hallway from me, my gun would be hard to take away without it going off. Several times.

There's way too many "mistakes" for this to unfold as it did purely by accident.
