Anybody using this??
If it works and generates safe code, I could really use this for some of my older machines

Cimco Filter

MIL-TFP-41

Remember back in the V8 or V9 days...there was a addon that was installed as part of Mastercam. MetaTools or MetaCut or something like that. I remember it having a filter function.

Doesn't answer your question....but agreed, something like that could be very useful.

Woah, that is an old product (well, old that I had a license for it a long time ago). I used it a long time ago, and honestly, it was great.

I actually have a license for it. If you want, send me a NC file, and I will filter it for you if you want, to test it.

More than happy to help :)

I remember getting a demo of this way back when we were testing out their version of dynamic I can't remember how many years ago.  I tried it a few times and it seemed to work good enough.

We ended up purchasing Volumill instead of Cimco's product so the license eventually expired. I forgot all about it until G brought it up.

I sent a file
I doubt Cimco will be able to do much with it
Its a 3D high speed with minimum linking... lots of point to point linking motion

Yep, Tom was right, it didn't reduce it much. About 7%. Tom knows his stuff :)

I had some success with it on a couple of other surfacing programmes that were all linear cutting a wavey type surface. It reduced the file size by about 83%, and I tested it through Vericut. Autodiff showed no noticeable difference.

I guess it all depends on the type of toolpath.

Actually, I don't think it was even that much
I compared the files before and after and I think the size reduction was due to removing spaces in certain blocks of code
I could not find any instances of the NC code being changed

There was some changes, but not much. I did find some arc conversions from linear motion, but it wasn't that much.

Yeah, Fanuc isn't known for being user friendly when you want to transfer programs from a computer.
Our new Fanuc I have a FPT setup.
Why the hell they don't just slap Windows in the background and use that networking is beyond me.
