I paid off about $22K of student loans in my life and that was borrowed amount, not including interest. Probably $30k with the interest. I shouldn't actually state how I feel about this on a public forum so I will just say it does not make me happy.

My youngest daughter still has outstanding student loans for which I am a co-signer, and I STILL don't want taxpayer money to foot this bill.

there are so many things wrong with the education system. Like stated previously, unlimited amounts of money available means unlimited prices for tuition. Then you have counselors and parents insisting that kids go to college who really have no business going to college, because they either don't want to be there, or weren't even motivated enough to make it through highschool without cheating their way through.

Then you have kids who love dolphins and decide they want to be a marine biologist even though they've never done much more than visit the ocean once a Pensacola. only to drop out after a few semesters and take a job in retail for $15 an hour.  Or the kids who have a passion for social work so they spend 4 or 5 years getting a degree that pays 45k per year.

If any kid ever asked me, I'd recommend getting a career that pays well and if you have some passions, like marine biology, or social work, make those things your hobbies or ministries.

There is a couple going to  our church who spent a lifetime saving to send their daughter to college.
She chose Berkley and it didn't take a year for Berkley to turn a polite, well spoken, well educated
young woman into a full fledged woke liberal lunatic who hates her parents because all Christians are terrorists.
All they have left of their daughter is a pile of student loans they cosigned.

My ex...last one. used the student loans like a bank. $110,000 and never finished a semester.

She continually filed for FSSA even though she lived with me and I supported all the children.

That way they (FSSA) would set aside the payments for student loans.

She played the system. (me too)

But Hey !! Biden is knocking $10,000 of that off.
