There is a total of 1.75 trillion of student loan debt. After this handout, that will knock it down to 1.4 trillion. My bet is the total debt will be over 2 Trillion in just 2 more years.

 

Because most of those loans are through private banks, for 20 years at stupid high interest rates.  Who the fuck gives an 18 year old a 20-year loan with no collateral?  Oh yeah, banks who know they'll never be able to pay it off, can just garnish their wages to pay them, and can't remove them through bankruptcy.

My take on this...if one is making $125,000/yr and they cannot afford to pay off a $10,000 loan in less than a year, then that person will always be in debt, no matter what kind of handouts they are receiving.

When I'm using money outta my pocket I do whatever it takes to make A's and B's.
But really, school sucks and I'm ready to be done!
