It's already entering academia and before our grand kids are our age it will be normalized if we don't stop this path we are going down.

So you're going to make the leap from ensuring basic civil rights that everybody should have, even people who are different than you think they should be, to normalization and protections of pedophilia?

Perhaps we have flipped to the majority opposing such laws because more people now agree that consenting adults should be free to screw who they wish without the .gov having a say in the matter. You would think small .gov type Republicans would be on board with this.

And perhaps the vast majority still want pedophilia to be a crime because in that situation we can agree that consent isn't possible.

I know there are those out there who'd disagree. They should be mocked, ridiculed, and shunned for their failure to protect children from predators.

If you don't believe me, google scientific study pedophilia and just see what comes up. Hint: there is a study on Pubmed "Humanizing Pedophilia" a study on how to normalize pedophilia with the public.

Here in Kansas the GOP is pushing to overturn a court decision protecting the rights of people to not be fired for being LBGTQ. The GOP nominee for governor announced one of his leading priorities is prohibiting trans people from participating in sports.

The debate is NOT about allowing trans athletes to compete in sports, it is about allowing biological males to dominate biological women in sports.

Perfect example...Lia (formerly Will) Thomas winning the NCAA Womens' 2022 National Swimming Championship gold medal in the 500 freestyle.

Everyone will remember Lia, but nobody will remember Emma Weyant, the woman from the University of Virginia who finished second.
Anyone with any sense of fairness has to feel for Emma because that gold medal and the title of National Champion should have been hers. 

You can't find the picture anywhere on the internet of the top 3 swimmers on the medal podium, but I remember seeing it when it was current. 
Lia is so much bigger, stronger, and more muscular than the two tiny biological women on the podium it was almost laughable. 
But she 'beat' them fair and square, right?

The only podium photo still on the web is the one where Lia is standing alone, and the other 3 girls are off to one side posing for pictures, and that one can be taken out of context to portray the other 3 as 'mean girls'.
The photo of the top 3 together is nowhere to be found as far as I can tell, because it is simply embarrassing to Lia when you look at all 3 swimmers side-by-side with any sense of fairness. 

Everyone is celebrating Lia's 'right' to compete as a woman, but what about Emma's 'right' to fair and equal competition? 
The NC Double Asshats are far more interested in political correctness than they are in fairness in competition, so it is on them for allowing it. 

Any political candidate who is willing to stand up for EMMA'S RIGHTS in that case gets my vote every time.

I'm curious Beej, where did you find the information you've used to develop the opinion that a person being gay and a pedophile are the same thing? Or is more accurate to think you believe one leads to the other?

I don't believe they are the same thing, or that one necessarily leads to another, I believe that society is constantly removing, more and more, moral restraints from sexuality. Things that were taboo, 50 or even 20 years ago are being normalized now.  there was never any thought in the 60's that a Catholic School should be forced to keep a teacher that teaches against the long held beliefs of the Church.

Would any of our parents have felt good about having a trans teacher for us much less have drag queen story hours? That would have been unheard of when I went to grade school in the 70's. No democrat or republican would have stood up for this. I don't even know how it could be controversial?

And yes, it has infected every institution including the church. The Catholic Church needs to stand against it, and it has, albeit too late.

But the nature of progressivism is that it keeps knocking down walls that stand in it's way. You tell me, what's next in the sexual movement? Is progressivism going to just stop when trans people are finally accepted and gay marriage is approved by the last few hold outs?

Your use of the word "progressivism" (if that's a word) seems to be an attempt to blame everything on politics, or at least separate it into politics. But it's not politics.

People evolve, society evolves.

When I was young people would hide in the closet because they couldn't be themselves. That's just the way it was.

Was it right? Why should people have to hide in the closet? Why should people have to worry about being fired for being gay?
