OK,
I did an experiment
I disabled my ethernet connection and created a new machine group
It appeared to work OK, but I did not get a preview of the Machine Sim machine
It's weird because all my machine defs on on out network and my computer had no access to them

next
I turned my ethernet back on and created a new machine group
It works as usual with a preview of the machine sim...

I have to conclude that x23 is extracting data from the cloud during creation of a new machine group
A lot of people are going to have a real problem with this.

That isn't actually accessing that URL during MGS launch/edit- it's simply a line of build information from the DLL header.

I've been trying to figure out how to assign my machine sim files to my machine def and posts but haven't got there yet

Machine Definition Manager -> General Machine Parameters -> Simulation Tab

I have all of mine set to "Use machine definition", that gets rid of the preview screen when you go into properties in the machine group, a feature I find annoying AF.

I agree ... this should be the default setting
we've got 25 to 30 different  machine defs here and maybe 6 accurate Machinesim machines
For the most part that machine sim preview is both annoying and useless

Eye Candy that other Major CAM have. Got to keep up with the big players to be considered a big player.

no.. I foolishly said yes to a OneDrive question a couple of years ago
and it made a huge mess of my Mastercam installs, but I'm pretty sure I have
purged all traces of it from my workstation

Jeff, did you get an R# for your issue and did you submit video/files/log file for this? I want to check on where this is at.

As far as I know there isn't an R#,

As far as I know there isn't an R#,

Just to follow up on this one, The "Prompt" options being turned ON for Toolpath Group/Machine Group name in the Toolpath Manager tab of the Configuration are causing a hidden prompt to appear when launching a new machine group from the right-click menu rather than the ribbon. (The name prompt is in the background). I've been able to get around it with a simple Esc key hit, but if you click to set focus elsewhere before hitting Esc, I imagine there's scenarios where you can't get at the hidden prompt to exit it and have to kill it through task manager instead.
