Quote from: Smit on September 26, 2022, 04:56 PMWhy can't a right leaning media bias web site just come out and say the shit people read there is conspiracy nonsense or outright lies and recommend they go somewhere more reliable to get their info?

Smit, about 65% of Republicans, 35% of independents and even a small percentage of Democrats believe the election was stolen. In round numbers, that's just shy of half the population of the United States and well beyond the definition of
"conspiracy nonsense"
Right wing publications do not have a lock on outright lies. Any publication that parrots the Dem party line that our southern border is secure is lying, plain and simple.

I was listening to NPR today and between "Super Typhoons" and Italy's new fascist President I can only come to one conclusion... the world is definitely coming to an end. Like tomorrow, or maybe the day after that, but we're definitely all gonna die.

:coffee:

I don't know how you do it G. Every time I listen to those shitbirds on NPR my BP goes through the roof because the amount of taxpayer funded bullshit on that left wing propaganda network is just staggering. NPR needs to be de-funded. Completely,

I'm sure you already know the answer to that.

I think that they're smart staying out of the fact checking arena. Best case they alienate their audience who are already skeptical of most main stream media. The last thing they want is to get labeled main stream media. You can't really contest their evaluation of bias and it's less controversial than telling someone your favorite news outlet is feeding you propaganda. To be fair, that goes for both right, and left media. Although the left site 'mediabias' doesn't have a problem calling out the left leaning sites for pushing false or misleading information.  When it comes to fact checking, it doesn't matter how much evidence you can dig up. If it comes from certain sources, the conservative response would be "main stream media, it's bullshit", and it's hard to blame them some times?

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

Yeah, they aren't gonna kill the golden goose that is right wing media. There's big money in feeding the rage.

I am sure he will come back with some double proven left leaning fact checking site that says that all Americans trust the media with their lives and think they are the smartest most caring honest people on the planet. To think otherwise means you are some ignorant none educated half wit who is always going to be a republican and a fascist. The fact a sitting President even made such remarks about a party and got away with doesn't scare the hell out of any American it pretty much shows we are getting exactly what the big power hungry corporations have always wanted. We have a puppet and chief in the perceived most power seat in our country. (Shows it is not) If that doesn't wake people up that he is the Commander in Chief of our Military, Commander of this country and Leader of the Free world and those that think he is doing a terrific job then wow is all I can say. WOW.  :-[  :-[

as demonstrated by CNN and MSNBC. No President Trump to hate on, so no ratings  and no $$$
CNN is on life support, and MSNBC is circling the drain.

I expect your Republican estimate is low and independent estimate is high but regardless there is indeed an alarmingly high number of conspiracy theorists in this nation. And having a whole bunch of them doesn't legitimize anything.

Quite honestly I don't believe there are that many who truly believe the election was stolen. I think a bunch of people go along with it because it's a requirement to be a Republican and they don't want to be called RINOs.

I'll take your word for that.

The Gateway Pundit seems to be doing well. They should start manufacturing rage like the right wing sites do. A solid business model.  :coffee:

  I don't think they're worried about damaging the reputation of the right leaning sources as much as they don't want to sink their own ship. Talking about Allsides.

It's pretty unfortunate that our media has caused this level of distrust. And it is their fault. I don't know if you remember when Bari Weiss left the NY Times and made her her resignation letter public? The Times was supposed to be the golden standard for journalism and Bari, who is a liberal and who I consider to be one of the very few true journalists left, brought to light that if you aren't willing to tow the line at the Times and push their narrative du jour, you got attacked by the mob. How do you trust an organization that has such a lack of integrity?

It doesn't surprise me that people flock to their corners when it comes to news. It does surprise me that people aren't more critical and/or cynical of some of the articles coming out of them and the people pushing them.

LOL mustn't strain your rose colored glasses by viewing an uncomfortable truth.
CNN will be lucky to survive the year. If it does, it will not be in it's present form
There are rumors that Fox News is going to buy CNN and put it out of it's misery.
Their last gasp was their failed CNN subscription service.
$300 million invested.. less than 10K subscribers.. They pulled the plug in 3 weeks

Yeah, that's what I meant. They're sharing the riches with other right wing sites and don't want to mess it up.

I don't really recall the Bari Weiss story so thanks for the link. Newspapers are business run by humans so yeah, be cynical.

I think the left center designation for the New York Times is accurate. I think the high factual reporting and credibility is pretty accurate. They don't just make shit up so they got that going for them.

Sure you can distrust them because of a lack of integrity but it seems right wing sites are held to a lower standard, like they aren't expected to be better so it's OK.  :)

What are you even talking about?

It's no secret left leaning cable shows aren't the cash cows that right wing media sites are. If CNN and MSNBC disappear because they can't make a profit I'll feel no sense of loss.

They can't make a profit because the object of their hate is gone
They were doing very well duirng the Trump presidency, now they are  on life support.
