Harvested a nice Deer yesterday

All was good untill I accidentally stabbed my left hand while field dressing him.   Had to finish up and get him to the processor. Then I drove myself to the ER to get 5 stitches.  Yep I feel like a dumbass

Meh, just a reminder to cut away from yourself lol.  It was a brand new, never before used knife *SHARP*.  

He'll provide a lotta meat.  Field dressed at 178lb.

Wow...178 is huge for a whitetail!  

As for your injury, it happens more often than you think.
A friend of mine was an ER nurse for years, and she said they always saw an uptick of hunters coming in for stitches as soon as the season starts.

Usually a combination of hands being cold, and knife being slippery.
Goes with the territory I guess.

Anyway, that's a really nice buck.  
I know people who have hunted deer their whole life and never even came close to getting one like that.

been there done that , glad you r ok , nice buck though , that's definitely news worthy .
I don't hunt anymore , would like to though , but my son did get me some of these Kevlar gloves that were pretty sweet for that type of thing.
I use them now for avoiding the burrs on Blanchard ground blanks that come with .020" tall razor blade burrs on them  .

PA uses the term 'harvest' in all of our Game Commission literature too.
