This sounds a lot more like people on the right heard that people on the left don't like Alex Jones so they are willing to defend someone who drug the families of dead children through the mud because they can't agree with anyone on the left at any cost.

I remember when some free speech advocates were threatening to sue JB for slander. Weird how that was something we all could agree on?  lol.  What happened to JB's free speech? 

I don't know how something like this can become swayed by politics but here we are.   lol.

You're comparing apples to oranges. I would agree with you on legit examples of free speech being limited. 

What we've reduced ourselves to in this thread, is defending slander and defamation as "free speech".

Not necessarily, there are two issues.

Free Speech and Freedom of the press.

If he is not a member of the press. then it is free speech.

If he is, freedom of the press does not apply.

as I said I have listened to none of his comments.

I only have heard from the press his statements are reprehensible.

As far as the shooting and the parents my sympathy is with them.

Same goes with holocaust survivors and their families.

Alex provided a camera crew and collected donations to help fund a lunatics harassment of the Sandy Hook families.  At least JB's "crew" was a figment of his imagination and his harassment of some of us EMC members didn't cause us to have to move out of our homes and leave our communities. 

I know that Jones is a Trump supporter and a far right activist so he's not going to get the same criticism here as he would if it were Rachael Maddow or Chris Cuomo.  If this were Chris Cuomo being sentenced for slander this thread would be celebration and "freedom of speech" would never have been mentioned.

A guy I go riding with sometimes is from that area. His ex worked in a doctor's office where one of the kids was a patient. It fucked a lot of people up there. And don't kid yourself. The main stream media isn't much better. They couldn't wait for those vultures to leave. You couldn't do anything without someone sticking a microphone or camera in your face.
