Quote from: gcode on October 31, 2022, 05:54 AMA lot of media are going full bore blame it on Trump and his radical supporters with zero mention
of the actual facts that are currently known.

I've been hearing and reading some hints that he was in to and posting about some qanon conspiracies but I haven't heard anything about him being a Trump supporter.

Fox was running a story that he has some mental issues.

CBS was hinting that Pelosi wasn't his only intended target but didn't give much information on it.
I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

The quanon stuff is total BS. It comes from a website that appeared out of nowhere over the weekend

apparently it was coming from his daughter

Given %100 of qanon followers are certified, idiotically nuts... it seems plausible.

YoDoug

I for one have sympathy for Paul Pelosi in this situation. Given the choice between getting it on with Nancy or a hammer wielding psychotic middle aged dude, It's easy to see how he ended up there........

I'm not seeing any news sources retracting their original reports.  The reports I've read say that he was posting qanon related conspiracies on Facebook (the account had been since removed) and some blog. One said that an acquaintance of his described him as being "detached from reality".

Most of the reports came out pretty quick so   Who knows what to believe at this point.  Other than he's obviously crazy enough to break in to someones house and hit them with a hammer.

News helicopters shot pictures of the house.
The window is broken from the inside
They were both in their underwear.
The police were answering a call for a wellness check
The violence did not start till the police arrived
Nancy Pelosi is the third most powerful person in the US.
I would assume her person and her home are heavily guarded
How does a "detached from reality" person in his underwear breech
security like that.
There is something very wrong with this story and I doubt we will ever
know the truth.

per Tyler's link

QuoteSurprising Fact

DePape was previously known as a "father figure" among some in Berkeley, California, where he made hemp jewelry and belonged to a small pro-nudity group, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. He also was registered with the left-leaning Green Party.

as the plot thickens..

Is this being reported by anything outside of twitter? I read something about this briefly and it was said to have been retracted by the original source.

Wouldn't surprise me but I can see that people are already moving to their corners so even if the truth were to come out, good luck getting anyone to believe it?

Not sure where you got that the qanon part was BS, yet the underwear part is true? wishful thinking on the part of qanonners?

The police have retracted everything they said initially
The 911 call is public though and in that the caller said
the attacker's name was David and he was a friend
Sounds like a domestic issue to me

This may be a slight stroke if irony, but the source that initially reported/alleged that they were in their underwear, is the same that reported on finding a qanon manifesto.   Now which one am I supposed to believe?

QuoteSAN FRANCISCO - The alleged home intruder who attacked 82-year-old Paul Pelosi early Friday holds anti-government conspiracy theories, according to sources.

Sources told KTVU that authorities found a manifesto belonging to 42-year-old David DePape that contained conspiracy theories and anti-government COVID beliefs. He also allegedly had a list of other politicians he planned to target.

I haven't seen any of that stuff from a legitimate news source.

I fully expect the stuff from the righties to be just another conspiracy nut theory but time will tell, eh?
