Oh wait, that's wasn't a policy. That was just every day Trump.

Never mind.
At least he tried to do the nice thing and pay her off, unlike jailed avinati.
If he would have just come out of the gate calling her horse face, then that would have been different.🤣🤔

Quote from: beej on November 16, 2022, 09:51 AMuh yeah, I'm pretty sure if some people who like your boss but are mad at you, broke into your building right now shouting "Hang the Vegetarian"  you'd be pretty disgruntled about it.

I'm not saying they didn't break the law. They were trespassing for sure. The only violence was from capital police beating and shooing citizens. It was not a planned terrorist attack. It was spontaneous at the least, or prodded and coerced by implanted FBI in the crowd.

Quote from: neurosis on November 16, 2022, 08:36 AMYou have to pick which team of crazy you're willing to support and stick with them or risk being called a racist or a communist.

One of the (unexpected) benefits of middle age seems to be that I care much less what others think than I used to! It *almost* makes up for the other stuff....LOL.

Seriously though, what I'm most stuck by these days is how easily most of us have allowed ourselves to get roped into this game whereby we self-sort ourselves into "us" and "them", with little to no regard for the consequences of this "choice." Once we've allowed ourselves to be manipulated into this "identity" it's easy to use this to "drive engagement" with whatever flavor of media ("Kool-Aid") they're selling.

I came across an interesting article in the Sunday NYT (go ahead and laugh-I'm laughing with you) that addresses some of this, somewhat obliquely:

https://www.nytimes.com/2022/11/11/opinion/trump-musk-kanye-twitter.html

(I suspect that this will be paywalled-sometimes I can see it, sometimes I can't-so I will enlist the help of Twitter to link to the link...oh, the irony!).

https://twitter.com/nytimes/status/1591253215713972225

Consider the authors use of "Twitter" to be a proxy/synonym for any "new media", social media in particular. The message is more universally applicable to what we still call "news" these days, but which is better understood to be "entertainment."

Remember boys and girls, they're not interested in informing you, they just want you to be "engaged" so that they can sell advertising against your eyeballs.

ok and since you believe this, anybody who is disgruntled by the actions of these people is a RINO? Isn't it something that you can believe every single thing in the republican platform, but if you think that Biden probably did get more votes than Trump, you are a RINO? One thing, that's all it takes to be a RINO is one different opinion? Good Grief!!  Just how do you expect to get more people to vote with you, by ostracizing everyone who disagrees with a single point of contention?

Beside that, you can't honestly tell me that if those people were Democrats storming the capital, you'd be worried about their civil liberties.

Serious question. Who would you all prefer as a President?

I kind of follow the USA politics thing, and yep, Biden is worn out, and tired, and Trump, well... 'nuff said.

Seriously, who would make a great president? Or have all politicians stooped to such a knuckledragging low, that there isn't someone worthy of the role?

Absolutely I would be speaking out if R controlled courts were violating Dem defendants rights. I believe in the rule of law more than party.

I think you are missing the point I am trying to make. There are massive, gross violations of due process and civil rights happening to J6 defendants. There are defendants that have been jailed for well over a year and their lawyers still have not received discovery from the prosecution. they are not letting defendants have adequate time with their lawyers. They are mistreating them while in custody. There are R's that are willing to look the other way at this because it is being used as fuel against Trump and they want that. Those are RINO's IMO.

DeSantis would probably be my first choice.

who are they? I hear this info thrown out a lot, but I never hear a name so that I can read about their case for myself. And even in right leaning sites or Hard Right sites, they never seem to give a specific name.

I don't remember the specific names, but I saw a video that had audio recordings of phone calls with J6 defendants and interviews with their families where they discussed these very things. I will have to look for the video again. It was on RedState or PJMedia or one of those sites.

Here is one. Note; I do not know how to verify that this is authentic. however it has not been disputed as far as I know.

The charging docs do make a pretty damning case, but it still does not excuse the treatment. The hallmark of our constitution and law is you are presumed innocent and given a right to a speedy trial. That is the opposite of what is happening to J6 defendants. You have to ask yourself a question, if the "evidence" is so damning then why the delay and dragging on. You would think the DOJ would love to get this in front of a jury and get a guilty verdict. Either they don't really have that good of a case or they are purposely doing it for political theatrics just like banana republic dictators do to their opposition.

my wife is a deputy clerk here in Missouri, I get a lot of first hand info on how some of these things play out, and I can tell ya, that more often than not, the delay comes not from the prosecutors but from the defendants own lawyers, who continue to get billable hours and never bring the case to trial. Kyle Rittenhour complained about his first lawyer doing just that.  Do we know that is not the case here?

No, we don't know that for sure. It could be a public perception spin from the defendant and his lawyer. However, given the proven corrupt history of the DOJ/FBI I don't have any second thoughts about believing they are the ones doing it for political gain.
