@BrianP To be clear this is what is laughable about his latest rant. :)

There are people who think doctors are infallible. On here or not I don't know. Maybe you feel like he was pointing that finger at you.

We have a similar story with my daughter. She complained about neck and shoulder pain. No x-rays or anything. Just kept sending her to PT. After about a year of suffering and back and forth they finally did an x-ray. Herniated disc wich ended up in surgery on her C5-C6 vertebra.

You need to advocate for yourself and loved ones. Ask questions. Do a little research. Makes a difference in the quality of care if you are actually involved.

We pay $378 every 2 weeks for a family. Company pays for me, I pay for wife and kids.

We have a $3,000 deductible for the family. After the deductible has been met, we pay 20% I believe. I'm not sure there is a max. If there is, it's probably somewhere around $15k.

Since that shitbird Obummer passes that garbage, the standard of care has diminished, and the costs have skyrocketed. Kinda like the minimum wage in my shit hole of a 3rd world state of Kommieforniastan... the higher minimum wage goes, the worse the quality of service gets.

Only wingnuts do research... just ask the resident shitbird Larry.

Quote from: Smit on March 03, 2023, 08:35 AMThat's crazy. Do you get your insurance thru work?

Yes, my employer pays 50% of mine, I pay 100% for my wife and son.

Interesting side note, This is a BCBS Silver plan. it covers everything we need it to.
This very same plan, when purchased thru the exchange, was not accepted by our PCPs and two of the three specialists we use

Where do you think we're headed as far as healthcare after seeing how many people are getting shit on to pay for insurance?
I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

Just remember we have the brightest people in DC to figure this out.

They've figured out how to not only lie, but to lie about the lying, then... even when we know they are lying, blame it on the other liar... and we believe that. Then if that wasn't enough, they get us to fight amongst ourselves instead of marching on DC with pitchforks and torches demanding heads on a stick.

Pretty darn smart if you ask me.

Exactly.  They've figured out how to get us to fight against anything that is good for us.

Quote from: BrianP. on March 03, 2023, 08:57 AMYou have to be involved. Doctors today are pushed to see as many patients as they can jam in. Had a good primary care doctor who quit because of this.

I've been dealing for 3-1/2 years trying to get my condition under control. Looks like the 5th drug is working for my UC but we may have damaged my adrenal glands. I was at the doctor's yesterday and we came up with a course of action. I told him it was exactly what I thought. Maybe I should have been a doctor. He told me sometimes patients know there condition better than the doctors because you live it.

How someone thinks your story is funny is pretty messed up.

took me 3 years and 4 drs to get my Crohns under control

I pay about $75 a week for my wife and I. $2,000 deductible which my company pays the first $1,000. Max out of pocket I think is somewhere around $7k.

I remember years ago when the ACA was first being rammed through that there was much discussion on the old forum. In that discussion we talked about how the ACA was modeled after the Massachusetts health care which some would call Romney Care. I said at that time if that was the case then all their promises of affordability and cost control was not going to happen. And here we are.

Do you think if the ACA was not passed we'd be in better shape today?

At this point no way to tell. All I can do is go from my personal experience. Before the government got involved here it was much more affordable. Whether that would have continued IDK.

But I will say I don't mind spending money on our health. Is it expensive? Yeah kinda. But look at what people spend for cell phones, cars, vacations etc.. etc... No problem spending thousands to tens of thousands on irrelevant things. Having been sick probably 50 percent of the time for the last 3+ years I'll tell you feeling good beats the hell out of a cruise or trip to Disney World.

Well I will give you an example of how well California has done implementing ACA. I have my own Delta Dental insurance Plan for me and my family. It costs $458 a year to do it privately. Since we are a small corporation we cannot get a private insurance policy and must go through Exchange and Dental Insurance is normally forced on to those polices. That cost is $254 for just the dental insurance add-on a month for a lesser plan than the private plan with a higher deductible. Since I have a private plan for Dental Insurance and go through a broker I have argued to have the forced Delta Dental Plan removed. That is a lesser plan at $3,048 yearly verse the $458 I pay for a better plan. Of course that was too much to read so you missed the whole point.
