I think that I've officially entered that old man with high blood pressure stage of my life.

I've been getting some higher than usual readings for the last several years but it's always been in the yellow.  I took a reading this weekend and I was getting 176/94  Kinda scared the shit out of me.  I bought a second home monitor to make sure the monitor wasn't faulty and sure enough, the second said the same thing.

Time for a trip to the Dr's office.  Speaking of shitty insurance premiums.

Did you feel a difference leading you to test at this time or do you test regularly? I have found that my BP goes up a notch if I slack off regular workouts.

Indeed...

With any luck, it's just the aging process and you can be given something to get it down...but a Dr should definately have a look to rule out other things that could be happening as well...

I wouldn't be surprised if the Doc ordered a Stress test for good measure.

I go in for cancer screenings every two years. They told me during the visit that I had elevated blood pressure and to keep an eye on it. If it doesn't go down, get to a doctor. I started testing last week and it isn't budging.

176/94 is getting in to that you're about to have a stroke range.

My blood pressure went up quite a bit during that window of covid. I gained about 15 pounds and haven't been doing as much walking as I used to.  I may have to get my shit together and drop that 15 pounds.  :D And maybe lay off of the pizza for a while.

Lots of good medications to control blood pressure.

If you have dumbbells just sling your lighter ones around while you're watching tv. It won't raise your heart rate much but you'll feel it after 15 to 20 minutes.

i nice 20 min walk is effective vasodialator that works for hours, no beta blockers required.
I'm normally low blood pressure. Had an episode recently where it shot up for a couple days. Didn't even know what the symptoms were since i've never had HBP. Anyways, it can be gastrointestinal in origin. But you guys already know im full of shit

WAY too high, neurosis. The doctors would put you on bp meds pronto... Do it. Nothing to mess with.

While I don't disagree....everybody is different and as we age, having someone look is a good hedge against missing something bigger in the overall picture.

Wow that is high. Not something to ignore. A few years ago before I made the changes to lifestyle and diet I regularly had 150+/80+.

My blood pressure started elevating when I was about 30. I was still working in the shop in pretty good shape. I only drank occasionally. I've been tested many times over the years but never found a specific cause. They just called it essential hypertension.

I went through a period when I drank quite a bit. That elevated quite a bit as well really screwing with my triglycerides.

Since I quit drinking my triglycerides are much better. My blood pressure is easier to control, but I'm still on quite a few medications for it. As long as I do what I'm supposed to it stays pretty normal now, with the medications. It's been known to be 220/105. I usually get a headache when it gets like that.

I finally got a hold of a doctor I've been to that is close to my house. They had me take my blood pressure while I was on the phone and it was 185/106

They told me to go straight to the ER. So that's where I've spend the last three hours.
